Default User manual prohibits tire chains

Anybody know the particular reason for this? It specifically points out the 19" wheels. I got the staggered 18front 19rear and got some tire "cables" test fitted today and they went on fine.
Starting Thursday Im making a trip from OakHarbor WA to Henderson NC. Im gona be taking I-90 which has been hit pretty bad by cold weather. Im using the stock Potenzas. Bad I know. Ive got them siped if it means anything. So its more a question as to what am I going to mess up when, not if, I put on those cable chains.
From the search I conducted in this forum I saw that the best way to go would be getting an entirely different set of tires but at this point it is just not a possiblility. And yes ive driven in the snow with this car. It wasnt fun so I know somewhat what to expect.

Because the car and suspension was not designed for chains. Chains beat the hell out of wheels ands tires, and suspension components. They may provide traction in an emergence situation, but how do you steer the car?

I've driven a lot of miles with chains on for the post office once upon a time..
The only vehicles tires chains are good for is vehicles you don't own. They generate horrible stress on the body as well as the suspension as mentioned above.
I'd look for a beater vehicle if I were you.

Probably because the chain's necessary clearance wasn't provided for in the design of the inner fender.

Just be careful not to go full lock on the steering, don't bottom out the suspension going over bumps and you should be fine. The tire will rarelly go all the way to it's design enveloppe...

Have you ever seen someone drive w/ chains on at normal speed and think that it's o.k. to do so? Then they get out and wonder why their wheel wells are beat to hell.
