guys, i've been wondering what is causing this. My car is not driving smooth as opposite to my mom's Honda odyssey..that van drives smooth!

But i think it might be my car's alignment? because the car sometimes go sideways a little bit whenever it comes to an immediate stop. Sometime when i drive at 50-60 mph, i feel the steering wheel is feeling stiff and if i let it go then it'll turn on itself. So ya that's the alignment problem?

Will this alignment correction will give me a smoother ride? Because i feel that whenever i drive, my car is driving on a rough surface and i can feel that whenever i brake, it's not smooth braking..it's kind-of rubbing between two rough surfaces..

can you help me out? please? thanx!

 

You should take it to a reputable tire shop and have the alignment and balance checked. It also sounds like you may need a brake job. Have your brake pads and rotors checked for wear.

Worse case scenario is that the suspension or chasis is damaged or bent.

 

Do you have an 06?? I have this exact same problem....its such a strange feeling. My car will turn if I hit a bump sometimes and the steering will just stay in that position until I "forcefully" put it back. Same situation when braking also. I feel very disconnected to the road and very uncomfortable driving the car. It feels kinda squirrely in a sense. I've had 2 Z's and a G35 coupe and never had this sort of issue and I don't want to waste my time going into the dealer bc they'll say its normal and probably end up leaving a scratch somewhere on my car.

Somehow I feel like an alignment won't cure it either....but that is what I am gonna try. If it works I'll be a happy man..GL

 

IT could be a rack and pinion problem, or maybe alignment.

I hate going to the dealer too I dont trust many people working on my car...

 

to zman, ya i have a 06. im glad we are in same position. i thought its prolly the brake. but when i drove again, it doesnt bother much. i figure its the road. but i can see that when the car goes over a bump or something and it suddenly turn unless i have to turn the wheel myself. that's the alignment prob.

i had my dad testdrive the z to see if he cud feel what i was feeling. he sed the brake seems fine because he ran fast and brake ..he sed it seems brand new and it responded fast even at a turn. i was getting scared he mite damage the car further so i told him not to do that anymore lol.

about the reputable alignment and brake shop, is there a brand name store you wud recommend? pep boys or what?

 

Well I took my car to Nissan yesterday and as usual it was a complete waste of time and I lost 50 bucks. They took 3 hours to inspect the car and came to the conclusion that it was my new Toyo tires and to take it back where I got them and have them rebalanced and/or replaced. I was like WTF. This is why I avoid going to dealerships at all costs.

They had no answer to me when I told them the reason I replaced the tires was because I was having this issue. They didn't even do the freakin alignment in those 3 hours and that was the reason I was there!! That was the reason for my appt!! I was pissed frankly

 

i feel you! i had the same situation. I was going there to get my oil change as per schedule. They did the oil change. While at that, i told them to check the alignment and everything. they sed ok. Apparently they forgot to do the alignment and it wasnt done. So i didnt have to pay for that alignment thing because they sed it was their mistake and will pay for it. So ya i paid for the oil change and not the alignment...that is just gay!

i aint goin to dealership for anything other than the oil change.


what about midas? do they do alignment? are they gud? help me out thanx!

 

You just need to find some reputable alignment shop in your area. Midas and any other shops are only as good as the workers there. I'm sure there are forum members near you that could direct you somewhere...

One things for sure... The people in Cali have it made with West Covina and Performance Nissan. I am really jealous of all them
