I've seen from this board and from the word on the street guys ("It's da bomb shiznit JDM off the heezy junks yo!") about how great Toyo Tires are. What's so great about them? Do they use state of the art technology sourced from NASA and the Roswell alien landing or is it because they paid Universal Studios a lot of money to put their logos all over the Fast and the Furious rice rockets?

Nothing exceptional about them. They are quiet, handle rain well, and are readily available at a decent price. Far from a performance tire IMO though....

From what I've seen on the Board, Toyo, T 1Rs, are at/near top of class along with michelin PS2s & FI GSD3s.

I've got the T 1Rs and they are good tires.

Just installed them Friday and really feel the difference. More road hugging than stock and they give a smoother ride. Hasn't rained yet, but they have to be better than the Bridgestones.

I love mine. huge improvement over potenzas in terms of grip and wet traction. they are pretty light too, on a scale and your wallet.

not perfect by any means, I m sure that others grip better and handle better since the toyos have notoriously thin sidewalls

If you are going to buy Toyo, pick the TR1.

What a lame attempt to flame a great tire manufactuer... One name: RA1. And you know what, Toyo is the official tire manufactuer for NASA... The National Auto Sport Association that is

I don't care for Toyos other than the RA-1. Most people run the T1-R because of their price, not because of any performance capabilities.

Ive got Toyo T1R's and Im not to thrilled about em. I trust my stock tires more than I do these. They make for good city tires, but up in the canyons they suck. They kept breaking loose on me. Then again Ive yet to put em to the test on a hot day when they get real sticky.

I've got the Proxes 4 on my car now (they were on my car when i bought it). They are alright tires. Pretty good in wet and dry conditions.

I was going to get the T1R's on my new wheels (when I actually get them) because the price was unbeatable. Unless someone can recommend a tire that performs better for the price or lower than the T1R's.

I just put on the T1R's on my street setup and like them so far. They definitely have stiffer sidewalls and handle much better than the Falken FK451's I had previously. I don't plan to push it hard on my street tires anyways, so that is not really a big deal to me. RA1's were great so I am sure their new R888's should be fun!!!!

This thread needs to die, just like the Toyo T1-R. Compare the T1-R to the FK452 or the Yokohama Advan Sport. Same class. Handle better than the oe RE040's?? Maybe on par at best. Handle better than the oe RE050A's? Not a chance. Toyo needs to put out a good 140-200 UTQG tire.

Personally I thought the Michelin PS2 was a great tire, I ran it on my last BMW with multiple track days, drift days and autocrosses. If it wasn't for the price I'd buy them again. Michelins are notoriously expensive.

Any other opinions on the T1-R? I may have to jump ship since BF-Goodrich doesn't make the KDW-2 in the size I want/need.

Anyone have track day experience with them?
