Question about used tires?
Ok I bought 2 front Wheels from a guy on here that needed tires, I only needed the 2 fronts because this is going to be on a drag set-up and I already have rims with slicks in the back. Anyways they are the 18'' touring wheels so I go to this little place to get some used tires because I only needed 2. They mount the tires and balance and for just 2 used tires I pay $100 is this right or did I get ripped off. I remember when I used to pay $20 a tire mounted and everything, but they were never 18's they where 16's and smalled. I told the guy this and he said that 18's are more.
You got raped . . . I can go to NTB and pay $10 to mount & balance a tire that I bought elsewhere. For used tires, you should not have paid more than $20/tire. Heck, I've paid $20 for a used truck tire before. $50 at the most for two tires bought, mounted & balanced.
I would have gone elsewhere if I knew they are going to charge me $100 for two used tires.

$100 doesnt sound to bad. Price for used tires will depend on the quality and brand of the tire. I can also pay $10-25 a tire, but this will get me some Kumho's with about 1/4-1/2 life left. If you got some Yokos, Toyo, BF or the other name brands you paid $35-$40 a tire and $10-15 for mount and balancing...sounds about right. Dont feel bad!
Are you sure? the tires are not a name brand and they look like they are down to about 40% left to go. Also I did not have all the money to pay the guy I gave him $45 and said I would pay the reas of it next week. What should I do? Give him the tires back and demand a refund? Or do you think I should just take my lose if any.

Okay I may have misread your original post..are you saying you paid $100 that included the price of the tires or just for the labor of installation? If it's with tire then the price is about right depending on the condition.
That is a fair price (for two used tires mounted and balanced).
Used tires that have 40-50% wear (you shouldn’t buy them if the wear is more since the installation cost won’t amortize past that amount of use) are worth about 25% of the SMRP for new tires. It costs the same to mount and balance tires (whether they are used or new).
