Default GTS 9.5, 10.5, ett +17 +18, 255 285

For you guys who are running this, how is the ride? How is tire life expectancy...shorter or same than consertive offsets...?

Went to a local custom shop today to order my toyo's and gave them the above info. The guy at the shop claims that the Z will certainly not ride as well as stock. He claims that although I'll probably corner like on rails, the front will tend to sway due to the 255's. Also, tire life won't be as long as opposed to conservative offsets like 20's.

opinion anyone....before I spend a G on tires....

offset don't have anything to do with tire wear.. Well the ride also depend on what suspension you have..

a big concern I have is tire longevity. As I plan to use tanabe's gf210 to lower, a site member, Z1, suggested I use toe correction equip such such SPC kits...which I have also read from other threads and plan to do so if needed. I guess I'm getting mixed up with the idea of offsets affect camber...

what about the fronts...using this lowering springs with 255's, will it jeopardize the handling...?/

your response are greatly appreciated....

I had to use the SPC Camber and Toe Bolt to get back within spec using the GF210's.

First off, are we talking 18's, 19's, or 20's?

Also, what do you mean by sway?

sorry folk for no specifics

wheels are 19",
and sway meaning not straight but with tendency to sway left or right. The person at shop claims that handling won't be as nice as stock....He believed that they are too wide (255 for the fronts).

do you think that toe and camber kit are car specific or will I need it just b/c I plan to do gf210's..

is the handling greatly affected (deteriorate), is it visually unpleasing or was it just wearing out your tires prematurely?

everyone's response is greatly appreciated...

I would call that tramlining. See article here for more information:

It was wearing out tires prematurely. The like the stance with them. Some cars I have heard don't require any camber kit to get back within stock specs, but mine did.

^every car is different. although one z might be able to be fixed with stock camber adjustment, another z with the same springs may require the aftermarket camber adjustment...

I just put mine on the other day, along w/ Swift lowering springs. The ride feels nearly stock, barely(if any) difference in a straight line. It feels like i'm going to be able to corner like crazy, but I can't push it TOO hard yet as I still need to roll the rear fenders. Running the 285's means definite rubbing. I think that you will only have premature wear of the tires if you are going to lower it that far, and not buy the proper parts to bring the alignment back into spec. Get some of the adjustable front A-arms and the rear camber kits...and you should be fine. Or you could just a do a smaller drop, and bring it back into spec w/ your factory parts to save money.

Here is a pic on Swift springs...rated at 0.6/0.7 inch drop front/rear. They are supposed to sag less than others as well. I haven't had mine aligned yet, but supposedly you can bring it back into spec easily with this drop, and I think that it looks just about perfect....here's a pic....

+1 Listen to this guy. The offset is the main reason I am not dropped. Once I am regardless of height it will be time to roll the rears.
