Default Please help me with tire size...Urgent!!!

I have

HRE 19" 9.0(front), 10.5(rear)

I called tirerack.com and try to order 4 tires for my new wheels. I was trying to order 245/35 in the front, and 285/30 in the back. The sales person would not take my orders. What!!! I was so shock. The sales person said that 350Z is not design to fit lower porfile tires in the back. What is the right size then.... Should I order 245/35 in the front, and 285/35?

Thanks guys and have a nice day.

Why didn't you just ask the sales person what the right size is?

most people are going with 245/35 front and 275/35 rear. I've seen some go with 245/35 front and 285/35 or 295/35 rear. I will go with the 285/35 rear. Tirerack has been out of these size tires for sometime now and won't be in till the end of may. Try onlinetires.com they have them on stock.

Default Thanks "toothlessracer"

If I put 245/35 and 285/35 tires, it's going to hurt my car because I heard that I need to have different porfile like 245/35, and 285/30 in the back. Am I right?

Once again Thank you for helping me out ^^

I'm not sure if you'll "hurt" the car. some say it will make the ABS and TCS not work properly. they way I'm avoiding this, is by using 255/35 front 285/35 rear. This keeps the tire diameter in specs for everything to work fine. The difference between front and rear tire diameters is supposed to be with 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch (rear tires being the bigger of the two).
The set up I chose to run is about 8/10s of an inch differece front to rear. the stock set up is 7/10s of an inch difference so there shouldn't be a problem.

I am using 255/35 and 285/35 on the same size HRE rims you have and it drives AWSOME. Nothing rubs, nothing touches, no fender rolling. Drives like a dream. I also have about 1.5" to lower in the back and about an 1" to lower in the front which is getting done Wednesday with JIC FLT A-2 coilovers.

These sizes are the closest to the stock diameter. They are closer than the 245/35 and 275/35 combo a lot of people are using. The only reason a lot of people here are using the 245/35 & 275/35 is because most people on this board are Bridgestone fanatics and Bridgestone doesn't make the correct size so that is the closest they can get.

I bought the tires at Tirerack no problem. Just order them online and forget those stupid sales people. That is what I did.

Jeff

Default Jeff~ Hu~~~ really big tires~

I haven't tried on my Z yet. Is it look good? How did you manage to avoid problem with tire pressure monitor? Seems like many people are having that problem. Have you consider to put 285/30 in the back? Once again Thanks Jeff

Micky,

No problems with the tire pressure monitors, they work fine. They were banded to the rims. I made sure that each sensor went back to the same location (front left, front right, etc.).

The 285/30 is to small in diameter. If you want a 30 series tire you need 295/30 in the back. I was considering the 295/30 but even that is a lttle shorter.

Here is a link to my car with 285/35: https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....&highlight=hre

micky,

Paul at Avalon Racing has been great he answers any questions you have and is willing to spend time on the phone with you. He is a good guy to work with. I also bought my JIC FLT-A2 suspension through them.

I am going to wait a while on any performance upgrades to see what the market shakes out.

Jeff

jak,

have you taken your car on twisty roads yet to see how it handles?

I took mine up some mountains in Ca. but I got stuck behind some guy on a bike doing about 40. So I couldn't really tell if the handling has improved or what. When the guy finally pulled over the road was closed about 1/8 mile ahead. By the time I turned around I was behind that guy again. So I pulled over. waited for couple of minutes and as my luck would have it I was right behind him again in no time at all.

I also have the 255/35 and 285/35

toothlessracer,

I haven't had a chance to push the car much and put it through it's paces yet. It still is in the break in period at around 800 miles. Plus being here in Minnesota with the weather I couldn't get the car out until last week.

One thing I noticed though is that the ride is better. The car seems to bounce less over the cracks in the highways. Did you notice that too?

Jak, I did notice that it's smoother ride, the steering has also become a bit heavier, but that's just because of the wider tire up front.
By the way what size wheel and offset are you running.
I'm using 19x9 with 30mm offset on 255/35/19 front and
19x10.5 41mm offset on 285/35/19. I think the rear could be pushed out anohter 5mm or so.
Some people running 255/35 up front said that they rub while turning have you noticed this? I haven't. But if some are, makes me wonder what those running 265/35 or the 275/30 upfront are going through.
