Question 255/40/18 and 255/45/18... Bad idea?

Here's the deal. I've got these goddamned 255/45/18 S-03s sitting in the garage that were a bit too big for the rear 8" rims and I'd like to figure out a compromise to use them. I'm looking at picking up a set of 18x9s all around. I'm also going to have the NISMO S-Tune installed within about 3 weeks. The S-Tune already neutralizes the car so my question is would 255s at all four corners make the car too tail-happy with the S-Tune?

The diameters would be 26.1" up front and 27" out back. On these particular 18x9s I can run the aforementioned set-up, 245/40 & 255/40 and 245/40 & 275/40.

I believe that other people on this board are running the same tire sixe on stock wheels, and hav enot heard of any problems. Reading this post sucks becuase I just ordered 245/45/18 front, 255/45/18 rear toyo TS-1 tires that are sitting in my basement. Does this mean that I cannot put these tires on my stock performance 18 inch wheels?

From a purely objective standpoint, the 255 on the 8" rim is fine.

However, it may feel a bit different, and if that is enough to make the driver less confident, then it really wouldn't be much of a benefit.

Alex, I highly doubt you'll see any problems with that same setup, but since it is a subjective matter, you might just need to wait and see.

Droid, have you thought about selling the tires or is that too difficult since they are slightly used? I can't really help with the Nismo S-Tune question, other than to say their recommended setup is fairly staggered (245F 274R I think), so the 255 all around might be pushing it. Raceboy is running 245F 255 R though, so you may be fine if you're careful.

I took back my tires back today where I bought them from and traded them in for the 245/40/18 front and 275/40/18 rear. I did this because I broke down last night and purchased the Nismo LM GT4 5 spoke wheels. I thought this would work better, since I am also installing the Nismo s-tune supension kit at the end of this month. I feel better about this set up, as it is the recommended set up for the S-tune suspension.
