Cool TMPS I'm Confused

Ok so we just picked up a 06 Enthu AT this weekend.
We have searched the posts about the TMPS.
I did not find an answer to my situation.

Situation. While We were Driving on the Hwy the Low presure warning light came on.
We read on here that the 06 enthu with 17's does'nt have Sensors? If that is the case then why did the light come on?

Anyway we drove to a gas station and checked the presure manually as the readout in the trip display shows no #'s. Why I dont know.

The tire presure on all 4 was around 40PSI so I filled to the recomended PSI

When will the trip display ever show the PSI #'s? It just reads ( --- ) How do I get it to show me the psi #'s?

The Warning light is still on and has not turned off. It Blinks for a while and then just stays on.

This is frustrating as weunderstand the purpose for idiot lights but would like to make this one go away.

How do I get it to show me the psi #'s in the trip display?

How do I get the warning light to go away?

Thanks
Brian and Ginger

If you are getting warning lights, then obviously your car is equipped with the TPMS system. First check and make sure the wheels actually have the sensors installed in them. If that is verified, take it to the dealership to have them check if the sensors are synced to the reciever

You are correct, if you have the OEM 17" wheels on your car, then you won't have TPMS. In 2006 though, Nissan upgraded and put 18" wheels on all cars (except GT) and dropped the 17" wheels. So chances are your car has TPMS, but the sensors are not in the wheels.

Do you know if you have aftermarket wheels, or are they OEM Nissan wheels? Are they 17" or 18"?

The TPMS sensors are built into the valve stem, it will be an aluminum valve stem rather than the usual rubber one.

I assume the warning is coming on after driving the car around for 30-45 minutes correct? That means that the system is not detecting any sensors at all. You get the (!) on the dash, correct?

The pressures are normally displayed in the trip computer. Press the top button to cycle through the various modes (speed, temperature, DTE, mileage, tire pressure, etc.) I believe it is the 6th item in the didplay sequence.

The only way to get the warning to "go away" is to have four sensors installed in your wheels.

Default Ahh haa

Well the wheels on the car are the OEM 17's
It was bought used with only 8000 miles and
looks to have recieved new Koumo rubber. The valve stems are
standard rubber stems. So I guess the shop tire tech decided
to pitch em when he RR'd the tires.
I bet you the dealers pull them when they can and re-sell them to schumks like me.
Looks like I'm gonna have to replace the valve stems with the
sensor stems. I wander how much that will be.
Thanks for the clarification.
I just found out that I have the REV UP Motor. I redlined 2nd today and the limiter didnt kick untill 7K !! woo hoo

if you have 17's on you 06 and it was bought used then they probably had aftermarket rims and sold the stock 18's that had the TPMS in them. and when they got rid of the car they just bought a set of 17's because they were cheap. i bet you can find a set of 18's somewhere with TPMS in them. and maybe some good rubber too. you would still have to go to the dealersip and have them calibrate the sensors to the car. if you can find some 06 18's with TPMS. dont tell them what happened and just say you have a TPMS issuse and they will it for free.

all 06 M/T's have rev ups and all 05 35th aniv have rev ups.

Default Ok

I'd like to stick with the 17's just because of tire replacement costs and I will be tracking this car from time to time. Is it posible to buy the stems with the sensons in them. This way I when I go to get new tires I can just have them pup them in?
Also about the revup .
My car is a 06 Auto Trans so what is the actual HP rating. Is it a revup or not. Knowing this will assist me in determining what mods to do.
Thanks

Brian,

Look in the MarketPlace->Private Classified->Wheels, Tires forum here. You can find a set of four sensors for between $150 and $200. Once you get them installed, the dealer will have to reset the computer in the car to recognize the sensors.

Don't buy the sensors from a dealer, they'll charge you $250 a piece.

Default All worked out:

No worries . Dont be sorry that its not a rev up. I'm not! I perfer what I got.

From what I have seen here I will get more noticible gains from mods with the 287 hp motor.+ more torqe with the AT .

Any hoo - I went by the dealer and explianed what happened with the TPMS and to say the least they were as baffeled as much as I was.

What it comes down to is they sold me a car with impropper equiptment and
basically are going to replace all the sensors for free.

They dont know how my car ended up without the sensors in the wheels nor can they explain why the sensor didnt trip when they had it on the lot or over the last 4 days I have owned it.

To say the least they will be making it right.

They will also be caufing up another Key and 2 new Keyfob units since the salesman only gave me 1 key and a broke Kefob that didnt work.

Nissan dealerships are hands down so much better than AUDI stealerships.

sounds like the car has TPMS but the wheels don't, especially since they're 17's. maybe whoever had it before had aftermarket wheels then threw some cheap 17's on it before trading it in?? the stealership you bought it from should be able to rectify hopefully.

Sounds Great! It's good to hear that the dealer made you completely satisfied.

It was bought used w/ 8K on it. And in fact I had to go back to he dealer about the TPMS light coming on.

Come to find out that the wheels did not even have the sensors in them.
They have been ordered and are replacing the sensors... no charge.

Now That that you guys have brought the interesting fact about what wheels should be on this car (18s") I am really pissed at the dealer.

I will be sitting down with the manager today to have little talk.

Thanks,
Brian

Update: I just talked to the service manager. He said that when they bought the car it had the 17's on it. They put 2 new rear 17" tires on it per the service records that I have a copy of. I guess either the PO harshed the 18 wheels and bought cheaper 03-05 wheels or when he traded the car the dealer that picked it up in GA swapped the wheels to sell the 18's. WTF

New Post
Jedi Mind Trick works every time.

Ok; I just got back from the dealer.

I Sat down with the store manager and basically explained to him why the cars TPMS was not working.

(Me)"I found out that this car was supposed to come with 18's and for some reason it has the Base model 17's from an 03 - 05 car. I don’t think the 03-05's were equipped with TPMS sensors" I suppose someone swapped the wheels for some reason.

Jedi rule #1
Say very few words and make very clear points.

I then pulled the book out that the sales guy handed me when we bought the car.

This book is basically a wallmart three binder notebook with a couple of consumer reviews a KBB report, service records and a spec sheet.

I state "It clearly outlines the specs for this 06 ("one inch larger 18" wheels")

The store manager called in his purchasing manager and asked where he got the car?
(PM) "I purchased it at the local Nissan auction"

The SM then called in a random sales guy from the floor and said " I'm gonna ask you a loaded question" - "what wheels come standard with the 06 Enthu? ((I think this was done to verify that I was not bull****ting him)) And I really don’t think he had a clue.

The sales guy walks out and brings back in a Real Nissan brochure and points to the Enthu model 18" wheels. (Store Manager) " Ok Thank you .. You can leave now." PM PWN3D

(SM asks Purcasing manager) "Why didn’t you make sure you were buying a car at auction with the correct equip? And why didn’t the TPMS go off prior to Mr. Phillips picking up the car?." The PM had no answer for the first one. Just stood there looking stupid. "PM PWN3D Twice" The later question has yet to be answered.

Anyway the SM asked the PM to leave and the SM is now staring at the incorrect sales booklet and the purchase order for the new sensors that were ordered on Friday last week.

I state " I appreciate your diligence in working this out"

Jedi rule #2 "Give a concise call to action."

He looks at me and says "Well we clearly misrepresented the car should not have sold you this car with the wrong or improperly working equipt. Lets go get this worked out.

He stands up; we walk back to the parts desk then he orders 4 new 18" wheels and tires and he made sure that the parts guy associated the wheel order with the sensors that were already there.

May the force be with you.
Later,
Brian
