Yes. Most likely you will have to take the Z to the dealer so he can set-up the system electronically.

If it's an AT Touring that came with 17" wheels, then no, you don't have the TPMS. When you scroll through the multi-display (speed, temperature, timer, etc.), do you see the tire pressure display?

Sorry. I assumed that the Z was set-up for TPMS.

Here is a pic of what it would look like:

my cars an 03 touring 6-spd. it shows just dash lines when i scroll through the display and see tire pressures, the car has aftermarket rims w/out sensors.
i asked my local dealer if i bought the sensors would they be able to pair it with the system and make it work, they said NO its not possible. i dont get it.

Call another dealer. This is the first time I've heard one flat out deny they can't do it. For trims that have the tire pressure in the display, I was 99% sure you could take any Z TPS set and have them mapped up to the car so that the display works.

I'm in the same situation. I have aftermarket rims w/out the TPS. My display just shows dashes (F: --, R: --). I check my pressure regularly by hand though so I haven't bothered getting sensors. Although I think I would like that....

Yes, find another dealer. That one's obviously an idiot.

You can save a lot of $$ by buying a set here in the Marketplace, you'll pay less for all 4 than the dealer would charge for one. Get them mounted in the wheels then go to the dealer and tell them you need the sensors re-calibrated to the car's ECU. If they give you crap, tell them to look around page WT-16 of the factory service manual for the procedure. It should take them less than 30 minutes to do it and they don't need to touch anything on the car.

wait, what do they have to do to calibrate them exactly?
if its something you can do without special nissan diagnostic/programming software ill do it.... i know at work when we do those on bmw's if you replace a sensor it just reads it, no calibration or anything nescessary.
have a copy of page wt-16?

What they are doing is activating each sensor with a special "tool" then using the Consult system, telling the computer to recognize the unique ID of the sensor for a particular wheel position (FL, FR, RL, RR).

a z without tpms actually has it built in to the module. They are actually the same for all at least in 03. They even have the rev limiter in a automatic it just dosent go anywhere. Now weather or not they can change it from factory tuning I dont know.
