Default TPS Swap

Okay so right now i have a set of TPSs that are mounted on the my rims
which are currently on my car. I will be trading my rims with another member from this forum but before i do so i want to take out the TPS because the rims im getting ( Volks ) don't have them since they are off an enthusiast model with no TPS. The rims i will be getting have almost bald tires so ill be replacing them soon. What I want to know is if anyone has every swapped them out? I need to take the tires off, take off the TPS, and then put the tires back on.
If i was to do this will they work on the volk SF Winnings?
And can a local tireshop do this?
Thanks!

Here's a question that isn't particularly answered in that Top 100...

I have Work Emotions on the car now and want to transfer my TPS to them. However, I also have red Work lugs and stems on the way to install in the rims. Is it possible to use my red Work valve stems AND keep my TPMS using that banding method? Is the sensor a separate, detachable piece from the OEM valve stem or a permanent attachment?

What you do in the banding method is mount the whole sensor/stem unit inside the wheel. It's one piece and you can't detatch the stem from the basic unit. The valve stem serves as your "screw" as there is nothing else you could connect to on the unit.

+1 - I have TPS banded on my wheels - I got the hardware from THE TECH and put them on myself before sending the wheels to the shop to get tires put on. The shop used regular valve stems when they mounted the tires.

Thanks for the replies guys! Do you guys about how much it would cost for me to actually get the tires off and on? I know it takes $40 to get them mounted back, but how much for off and on?

Ah ok. That clarifies it for me. So if I got rid of my track rims, I'd have to get new valve stems for that.

Thanks!
