Default Scratched My Tire, How Bad Is It?

So I stupidly scraped my tire on the curb and now there's a tear on the tire. Can you all tell me how bad it is? Is it so bad that I need a new tire or can I repair it w/ a patch or something? Even better, is it minor enough that I can safely drive on it without doing anything? I'm new at this so this could be a very stupid question. Anyway, I've taken pictures of it w/ my cell phone camera and attached them.

Thanks.

I would not trust that tire at 100 MPH.

My dad did the same thing and it popped when he was pulling into the driveway. Dont take a chance and replace it, its not worth the damage it would cause if it popped at high speeds....

Darn, not what I wanted to hear. Thanks for the responses tho guys, I appreciate it.

Is there anything I need to take into consideration when I put on the new tire? For example, will there be a problem having a new tire put on while leaving the older slightly worn tires on? Will that cause balance issues? I guess getting it rebalanced would fix that?

Thanks.

always replace tires in pairs if not all four.... two new fronts or two new rears. Get similar brand if possible but at least match the speed ratings and patterns.

You all think it's really necessary to replace Both tires if I've only had about 3500 miles on these tires? Obviously I'd replace with exactly the same brand.

Thanks.

One tire is fine. I have a habit of getting nails in the rear tires, and replacing then one at time. In the past 25,000 miles I have had 4 rear tires.
