Default Anyone Running Wider Falken FK-452's On OEM 18" Rims?

As mentioned in the title, I was wondering if anyone here is running a wider-than-OEM Falken FK-452 on their OEM 18" rims.. and if so, what size are you using up front and in the rear? Any issues with rubbing or the VDC system screwing up?

I'm probably going to get these tires, and I would like to go slightly wider and was thinking of going with 255/45/18 in rear and 245/40/18 up front.

OEM Michilin PilotSport specs are as follows:

225/45/18 Michilin PS Front: 25.8" Diameter, 8.8" Section Width
245/45/18 Michilin PS Rear: 26.7" Diameter, 9.6" Section Width

OEM-Sized Falken FK452 Specs:

225/45/18 Front: 26.0" Diameter, 8.9" Section Width
245/45/18 Rear: 26.7" Diameter, 9.6" Section Width

Plus Sized Falken FK452 specs that I'm considering:

245/40/18 Front: 25.8" Diameter, 9.5" Section Width
255/45/18 Rear: 27.1" Diameter, 10.1" Section Width

Do you guys think I'll have issues with VDC running this setup(not sure if I trust the 3% from stock formula based purely on the theory of it... would rather see if others have actually run this setup themselves)? I could also consider going with the 255's in the rear and the 225/45/18 Falkens up front, since the falkens seem to run about 2/10" taller in diameter than their equivalently sized Michilin counterparts.

245/40/18
255/45/18

The rear tires are 33.50mm taller than the front. I don’t like it.

Are you suggesting I go 245/40/18 and 255/45/18... or saying that's what you have and you don't like it?

If it's the latter, Could you elaborate on what you don't like about it and how it rides and handles compared to the stock tires?

Thanks!

VDC is sensitive to tire height. I recommend that the rear tires be 10-20mm taller than the front.

Handling: 33.50mm is a big disparity. I am concerned with potential under steer.

I'd go with 265/40 rear, or even 275/40 if you have 8.5" rear wheels

im running 245/45/18 fk452's in the rear, and when put up against another stock 06 Z, they seem quite a bit larger in the rear than the stock bridgestones, although they also have a much higher treadwear rateing than the bridgestones as well

Hmm.. interesting. According to the new tire specs, the front FK452's should be slightly larger than the equivalently size-rated(225/45/18) Michilin Pilotsport or Bridgestone Potenza tires, but the rears are the same. I wonder if the guy you were lined up against had the same size tires but on a rim that was 1/2" or 1" wider than yours, which would mean less tire profile and a lower tire diameter for him compared to you, even with the same exact sized rubber being on both cars(only difference being rim width).

Do you like your rear Falkens?

These tires are what I am interested in getting as well, but I can't decide on sizes either.

Be careful. The newer falkens are drastically wider (even in the same "size") than any of the other tires I've tried, even my current BFG KDW's. I bought the 452's in 285 and they were wayyy too wide for their size. I guess this is just one way that they can claim it's a "better gripping tire".

i compared them to the potenza re050 on a 04 track model with the rays, and the tread depth on the falkens is mucher larger (hence why they actually lasted through my abuse) so it makes them look taller. i like the falkens, ive always ran falkens on my cars, i usually stick with the azenis, but with 18s azenis arent so cheap haha. the fk452s were ahuge improvement over the stock re040s

another thing i noticed while mounting them and balancing them, they required a lot less weight than the potenzas needed, and weighed a little bit less albiet the higher treadwear, possibly due to a softer sidewall. i noticed a lot less wheelhop (its still there) after changing to the falkens.
