Default Valve Stem Caps?? & TPS?

Anyone know where I can get the stock caps for the TPMS valve stems? I heard they have to be the "metal cap" type bc of TPMS signal transmission or what not?? Stupid dealership took them off and forgot to put one on back on. I didn't realize until months later, so they'd probably charge me some bs $20 per cap or something, I wouldn't be surprised!!

Anyways, I thought it was like #6 in the following link, but I don't want to pay $2.74 for just regular valve stem caps, if they're not the right ones!!

You can use any cap for the TPMS! I use the Z logo ones and they work fine!

I prefere metal cap. Any AutoPart store has them. Make sure they have an o-ring for sealing in there.

#6 is the wheel nut, you goober.

But anyway, I've been looking for some decent valve stem caps too, 'cause mine keep coming up missing. For some reason, it's a ***** finding some that are a satin color or close to it. And yes, you can use any universal valve stem cap.

Why do you prefer the metal cap then, just looks?

Looks play's a part. Durability another (metal thread vs plastic). Plus that thing might help to act as an antenna.

Default Caps for TPMS

Folks,
a few things to remember about TPMS.
If the stems are Aluminium then you cannot use brass cores or a cap that has internal brass threads -similar to many pimped up aftermarket caps - the brass and the aluminium will have a chemicla "Galvanic corrosion" reactiona dn it may then be difficult to remove the core or cap after a period of time.

The caps that are used on OE applications have a sealing ring inside the top of the cap to prevent dirt ingress into the core sealing area.

The caps have little or no effect on the RF (Radio Frequency) performance of the sensors - totally negligible - so plastic or metal are interchangeable.

Missing caps - in Europe when TPMS was launched on Renault Laguna (Metal caps) a craze swept across Europe, whereby kids played a game, whereby they had 1 minute to steal as many caps from parking lots as possible.

So in short - you can buy replacement caps at many AutoStores - remember, do not use bling caps which have brass internals - it will cause you problems further down the road - if the cap is stuck to the stem and it snaps off during tire service, then the sensor needs replaced.

Plastic or aluminium only!!!!!!

Be safe,
t
