Nitto Tires
Hello Everyone,
Just bought an 03 Touring back in April. Very sweet still smells new and only had 27,000 miles. I think I got a pretty good deal on it. Got it for $20,000. However it has original Bridgstone tires on it. I called a tire dealer and he suggested putting on Nitto 555. Its not my primary car so I dont mind putting on a less expensive tire. But I dont want to put on anything I'm not gonna be happy with or thats not gonna last. Can anyone give me any feedback on the Nitto tires? Or make any suggestions on tire that will last for the money.
Thanks

Do a search on the Wheels and Tires section: https://my350z.com/forum/search.php?searchid=3625754
If that doesn't return then check back in that section or here.
Congrats on the new Z!

I have nitto on my volk sf chall. They are great tires for the summer, but they suck in the rain. The tread pattern on them does not circuitlate the rain properly, thus making it easy to hydro-plane I do not know how they perform in the winter, because I put my car away during the winter months.

So??? I'd look for something else IMO
That said, I recently searched 350Z accidents in the rain, and annotated those drivers on Nitto 555 tires. The list is reasonably long. Anecdotal evidence of poor wet handling? Perhaps.
Not looking to good for the Nitto. Do you have the Pirellis? If you dont mind me asking how much did you pay for them. The Nitto was gonna run me $682. It sounded real good but it made me question their abilities.
Nitto has one of the worst tire wear ratings out there. Good tire while they are new, but watch out for the rough/noise ride once they get about half way down.
+1 on the Perelli PRosso i'm running 285/35/18 on the back and yoko 245/40/18 in the front... good tires all around.

i have nitto nt555. I love these things. I just recently bought 06 rims that came with stock potenzas..boy are those tires loud. I swapped the nt55 back on and its so smooth and quiet. Sucks in rain (that's driving normal as well, i dont take it hard when its raining).
I love my nitto 555's. Awesome tire, I've hit several 1.9 60' times with them and I don't even have LSD.
Best I could do stock was 2.09.
They do slide around alot in the rain but it's really not bad at low speeds.
