Default All-season Tires

well my fronts are worn due to tire feathering. So I am going to get me some new tires. This time i was considering all-season tires.

The two tires I was looking at were

Goodyear Eagle F1 All Season - these seem new? no reviews on tirerack

bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position - gets great reviews, so i was initially considering these until i found the EAGLE F1

Any other tires I should considered? Opinions on what is the best all-season tire? Not looking for fantastic SNOW traction, and I want to keep the best summer performance I can with these tires. But I need a tire for that just incase moment....... and they seem to have better treadwear rating

Thanks for any advice!

I ordered Goodyear Eagle F1 All-Season yesterday. Will write a review soon.

The problem with all-season tires on a 350Z is selection and speed rating. Also give these tires consideration:

Pirelli PZero Nero M&S. About $688/4.

I was looking at the Pirelli as well.

another quest is, do you think the road hazard warranty from tirerack is worth it? it cost about $90 for all 4

Yes.

I bought the Tire Rack warranty. Over the past year, I have destroyed two rear tires with nails and screws at a cost of about $360. If the warranty saves me from buying just one tire, I am ahead of the game.

I have factory 18s which are

225-45-18 front
245-45-18 rear

does anyone know if I get 245-40-18 for the front would that work ok with traction control?

I've been wondering the same thing, going to a 245/40-18 front and sticking to the stock size 245/45-18 rear. Anyone have opinions on this as for TCS and handling/driveability of the car?

It will work fine , but the 245/40 will most likely be a wider tire, and you need at least an 8 inch wide wheel for it.

On the 06's, the fronts are 18X8" and the rear are 18X8.5"

reason i was asking about the slightly wider tire in the front you would get more grip, and since the overall diameter is the nearly the same, it shouldnt hurt traction control.

of course come to think of it (talking to myself here) if i care about grip, maybe I should get a performance summer tire and not a all season :-p

Where in the USA do you live ?

Does it get really cold? No season tires won't work very well below 10F as the thread hardens.

Running 2 sets of tires isn't that much more expensive once you factor in the shared milleage each set will run.

I'm considering getting winter tires next winter. Something in the order of fully studded Nokian's Hakka 4. Probably on steel rims.

I live in SC, so summer performance tires are fine for me 95% of the time. The problem is the once in a year (maybe twice) snow fall that makes my car completely useless. Also it seems all-season tires have higher treadwear ratings, I really would like not to have to buy tires every 15-20k

Don't know about the Goodyears but I have the 960's and they are nice tires. Much quieter then the stock 040's. I think they stick as well in the dry and much better in the wet. You will notice however the sidewall moving more.

I've driven the car in the snow as well.

Got me home once in a NJ icestorm we had in last winter. I would not purposely drive in that crap but I was able to get home. Summer tires would have never made it.
