Question Question about tire pressure system

i just got new 18's installed on my Z. I was told by nissan that i needed to get my tire pressure system reconfigured for it to work properly. i have been driving the z around and it seems like the tire pressure system is working fine. Is nissan just trying to get some money out of me or do i need to go get it checked?

Here's the poop on TPS...

Did the installer remove the sensors from your old wheels and put them on the new ones? Apparently so since you're still reading pressures, right?

There's nothing to be reconfigured unless the installer didn't keep the sensors in the proper position, i.e. take from the old front left and install on the new front left. If he got them jumbled around, then what you read on the display won't match the expected position.

You might want to run a little test by adding extra air to each tire (one at a time) then take a short drive to read the pressure and see if the new value shows where expected.

i asked the installer to make sure to place them in the same spot as the factory wheels and make sure the left goes with the left and right with right and so on. good idea on the testing. i think i am going to try that. Thanks!!
