Calling all users of 5mm spacers
I've had no luck selling my 355mm StopTechs, so I've decided to bite the bullet and buy some 5mm spacers to get them to clear my Work Meisters. To those running 5mm spacers how is the ride quality, any shimmy with the wheels etc? Also how will these work with my hubcentric rings from my Works. I'm very against the use of spacers and want to become as educated as I can before I make the plunge. What are the best spacers I can buy?

You can educate yourself by using the SEARCH function. There are dozens of threads already in this forum regarding the benefits of using spacers, in addition to the list of spacer manufacturers.

Yeah a spacer of any size can be hubcentric. My 3mm spacers were made hubcentric.
-although I see what you are thinking - they do not have the extra lip that would be hubcentric to the wheel - I still use my rings in combination with my spacers.

I'm running a 5mm spacer and I also changed out the studs also for proper fitment. As an owner of an aftermarket retail shop, all 5mm hubcentric spacers are identical, so why not pay for the least expensive one. I'm using the Ichiba 5mm spacer through optionimports.com. You can order it there and save yourself some money. I've had no problems with the spacers and the ride quality.

I ran 5mm spacers on stock lugs for a few weeks and then took them off. Not worth the risk IMO unless you have extended studs. Didn't have any problems with the spacers when they were on though.

if you aren't running a spacer with built in studs (h&r style) test how much you can thread the lug nut on. as someone said 6 or 7 turns is the standard. if you get less then that, get longer studs.
I have 15mil spacers on the rear of my car, and I have never noticed any shimmy from them or any negatives... they do have different torque specifications iirc that require slightly less ftlbs then normal... but i could be wrong. someone mentioned before they snapped thier lugs off cause they made the spacer to the hub too tight.

I have 25mm adapters (spacers with their own studs) on my Tiburon and have had no problems whatever except for a very slight rubbing in the rear which I fixed by grinding away about 1/4 inch of the fender lip.
