i had these tires twice. incredible grip. stiff sidewall for great turn in response.
of course with that stiff sidewall comes a noisy rough ride. i liked them a lot, but now i am running pilot sport 2's and they grip just as well and are a bit softer.
i would say your problems have nothing to do with your tires, rather than alignment specs

Absolutely the worst street tire I've ever been on....and I'm not making that up. I had a set on my CR Kai from spring 05 until fall 06 - I literally could not wait to get them off the car. Put about 9l miles on them and tossed em in the trash. They absolutely killed any ride quality I had, and the marginally higher real worl grip they offered vs other tires in the similar category was just not worth the trade off. They literally made me hate my car for the period during which I ran them. Thankfully, they are discontinued.
I ended up swapping to the Falken RT615, which was the best swap I've done. They offered all the grip the S03 did, and my ride quality was back
I've since replaced those too, and now run 19 inch RE050 - absolutely fantastic tires, wet or dry, for the street - I can't say enough good things about them.

The S03s were my favorite tire. Definitely crappy ride quality, but amazing grip dry or wet.
Now I just put on the RE050A Pole Position (the replacement to S03) and ride quality is a lot better while still providing grip. I have noticed a slightly softer sidewall, but having the stiffest sidewall is not always a good thing. Make sure you get the pole positions of the RE050A otherwise they are worse tires.
