Default New 19" Rims and now I get the slip light..

Help, please....

I just put 19" on my car and I am getting the slip light come on. The tire pressure light is also on b/c the tire shop couldn;t use tire monitoring valves. Any ideas. My wheels are Ruff racing 19x8.5 in front with 245/30/19 and rear with 19x9.5 275/35/19.

In dire need of answer,

Thanks - Paul

I believe you should have used 245-35-19 in the front to keep the slip light from turning on, but am not sure. As far as the tire monitors, they should have had no problems mounting them on the Ruff wheels since they are 1 piece wheels. You may have to go to another shop if this shop does not know how to mount TPS sensors on other wheels. The only time you have issues mounting the TPS sensors is when being used with multi-piece wheels, even then you can use the banding method.

its because of the diff size in height of the tire just like THEDUKE said. I used to get it all the time until I started to run 35s all around

ahh, as long as your fronts are shorter then your rears, you should be good. not sure why you're getting the slip with that setup. are you sure you dont have 35 series up front and 30 series rear?

Edit: I looked at the difference in circumference, and it is 7.2 percent. This may be too much for VDC. Someone check my arithmetic.

you shouldn't be looking at the sidewall, but overall diameter/radius. i believe this is outside of the threshold for tire staggering that the VDC can handle.

He's got a difference of almost 1.8" between the fronts and rears. The "generally accepted" range is 0.25 to 0.75" stagger from front to rear. My guess is that the large difference is outside what his VDC can handle. You'll probably find a few people here that will state that those sizes worked for them, and it's probably true. There has always been some variation in what works on one car versus another - probably related to tire brand as they are not exactly the same.

yup... sidewall # is just a percent of the width.. not all 30 series side walls are the same if the width is different...

I checked this website (http://www.dakota-truck.net/CGI-BIN/TireCalc.cgi) and it says that my difference in height is

Tire Rim Size Width Height Height Difference Full Analysis
275/30 R 19
(25 x 10.83 x 19) 19" 10.83" (275mm) 25.50" (647.60mm) -0.26" (-6.50mm)

275/30 R 19.5
(26 x 10.83 x 0) 19.5" 10.83" (275mm) 26.00" (660.30mm) +0.24" (+6.20mm)

why exactly are you comparing a 19" wheel with a 19.5" wheel?

this is how you do it..

WIDTH (divide) .HEIGHT% (time) 2 then (divide) by 24.5 (for milimeter to inch) + size of tires, then you will get the over height.

example (275/30/19) 275 / .30 = 82.5mm x2 = 165.00mm / 25.4 (convert to inch) = 6.496" + 19" = 25.496

Need to have 35 series front and rear. Otherwise, slip light kicks in like a *****.

If they have VDC , TCS or a base with nothing, is also a huge factor.

Yep, the overall diameters of your tire size selection front vs. rear are definitely outside the acceptable parameters for the VDC. Like the others said, if you're running 245's in front and 275's in the rear on 19" wheels, they should both be 35 series tires.

There is a sticky about this too: https://my350z.com/forum/wheels-and-tires/203755-will-these-tires-work-with-my-vdc-enabled-car-read-here.html
