Default mounting & balancing

mount and balance is expensive! damn! most places ive talked to first say its like $80, then they ask size and i tell them 19" 35% profiles and they go on this damn bi*ching spree and then say its $150!

finally found one place that does them for $105... is that good or can i do better?

um... that's a bit much, I think. I still run on stock, 45-series 18" tires, and I still only paid $15 per wheel to mount/balance... But, I buy my tires online, then take it to a local wholesale/used tire shop, and have them mount and balance them for me.

Just this morning I paid $117 to mount and balance 4 brand new tires bought online on 4 brand new 18" wheels bought online. This was at a big chain shop that has set prices in all their shops. I supplied the valve stems, otherwise it would have been an additional $12 ($3 each).

to mount them and balance them i'd say 80 isnt that bad...105 doesnt seem to bad either....19's arent any harder than any other size, i think they just say its gonna be harder so they can charge u more money.

Don't shop for price - shop for quality. It serves you no good to save $50, and the shop beats the hell out of the wheels. Ask for a shop recommendation in the regional forum.

I just had two tires mounted and balanced at a top-notch shop - 19" tires on Volk wheels w/TPS, etc. $18.95 per wheel. $80 would be a fair price.

To me, if you buy tires from a shop. They should install them for free. To bad this world doesn't exist anymore. Greedy bastards.

Actually the shop I went to mounts and balances for free if you get the tires from them, but the tire prices are so inflated that it's still cheaper to buy online and pay the ~$20 per tire to mount and balance.

Most shops around here don't have the machine to properly mount 19"+ wheels. It costs quite a bit more to do anything 19" and larger (including fix flats).

I'd rather pay a lot more if it were at a place I can trust. There's only one tire shop I've found that I trust not to scratch my polished lips.

People who install them for "free" generally include the costs in the price for the tires or build it into a package deal. When I bought mine, they quoted me $XXX and billed me that much. There was no breakdown for tires, M&B, taxes, etc.
