Default SLIP light coming on while driving. Help!

Hey guys,

I have an 05 Track, with stock wheels. I recently replaced my rear tires with 245/45/18's (stock size) General Extremes. My front tires have never been replaced, and are at about 40% tread left.

Now the SLIP light comes on while driving on the freeway. I always thought if we stuck with stock size tires, the TCS would not get upset.

I need your advice guys. Should I buy a set of the same tires for the front? Will that help?

Thanks In Advance!

Drive for a few hundred more miles and see if it still does that.
New tires are usually slippery until driven for 300-500miles.

BTW never heard of General Extremes..but they sound like cheap tires...

yah, still gotta wear out that top covering on the tread. I only replaced my rear tires just like you, and had the slip light coming on while taking some corners, in the beginning. After a few weeks, much better like that.

Thanks Guys! And BTW, they are General Exclaim's not Extremes, my bad.

They are actually very good tires for my cheap *** self. They got high reviews on tirerack.com, and at $130 a piece, I couldn't resist

Off I go to try burning out

The car you purchased is a fine turn machine don't put cheap or under rated tires on it. This car is known for it's incredible handling performance don't compromise it's integrity you might loose it in a corner.......

Thanks for the tips Vin, but these are good tires. Z-rated, and grip better than the OE tires.
