Question Spacers, good or not?

A member here, DrDrilZ, suggest that I run some spacers. I do think I need them as my wheel looks to 'tucked in'.

The question is, will it greatly affect the performance/handling of the car? Should I sacrifice look for performance?

What are your current offsets?

No real way to tell from pictures to get an exact offset. They do, however, look a little tucked, but not bad.

to some extent running spacers will enhance handling. A wider track essentially lowers your center of gravity....

I am running spacers on mine now... looks and drives great

That's exactly what I'm trying to achieve.

What's the brand of the spacers you're using? Any particular one? How wide is the spacers?

I custom made my own from aluminum barstock. Fronts are 23mm and rears are 7mm.

The fronts have thier own studs and the rears use the existing studs on the rotor.

I believe H&R has spacers for the Z but you will need to use Nismo extended length studs.

Or... if you want spacers larger than 25mm, go here

www.wheeladapter.com

I have bought from them before and they make excellent spacers.

Thanks alot for the info!

It's great to know that you used such a wide spacers, yet doesn't affect the performance of your car!

Ray_7:

Sorry to disappoint you, but you can look under Australian forum about the spacer thread..... it is illegal to run spacer here in Australia... and most of the insurance companies don't like it either... I was going to use spacers as my Ray's wheels stick in abit... but I gave up the thought as it will affect my nissan warranty on all the running parts (especially lug nuts and wheel bearings) and the legal issue!

Think twice before you go with the spacers... and you should really get the wheels which stick out at the start! we all made the same mistake!

cheers,

richie

if spacers are used to correct for improper aftermarket wheel offset, then Nissan cannot refuse warranty... however, if you took a set of wheels that had the centerline of the wheels in the same spot as stock, and then you ran spacers, Nissan may give you trouble for warranty issues related to the bearings, steering, etc...

As for being illegal.. not in the US... fortunatley.
