Default what would u do if GTS wont fit.

some of you may have read my recent post re: problems with my wheels fitment (volk GTS 10.5 +18 on T1R 285/35/19). I believed in what most of you said as proof of your rides. So I insisted that fenders be rolled/ shaved but my installer is now...just refusing and claims that damage is inevitable. No prob...I'll just go to another guy...

now...discussion is over with current dimensions...

I really like the rims and tires and definitely do not want to rid off but will switch tires if needed.

what should I do:

1. rid off gf210 and replace with hotchkis, (decreasing the drop)
2. trade tires for 285/30/19. will this look funny as profile is smaller at rear.
3. switch to other tire manufacturer like falken

criteria
hate stretched look

suggestions pls....

A 10.5" tire should have a 295 tire minimum. A 295/30/19 is the correct size.

i would have to disagree, a mild stretch looks clean. 275 to 295 is appropriate on a 10.5" wheel to me . with that said, a 295/30 might be in my future once im done with my 275/35

the correct answer is NONE OF THE ABOVE!

If it doesnt fit I'll BUY that whole setup from you. Who do you want to trust? People who have had this setup, who are currently running on Zs/Gs, and people who have moved onto more aggressive setups or some installer that's smoking crack, don't know what he's talking about, or is just simply incompetent for the job?

The thing that pisses me off the most is people who ASK for advice, opinions, etc and then have DOUBT or already made up their mind on their decision. Really, then stop wasting people's time and not ask.

I know you're concerned bro but trust me I'll be willing to buy your setup if it doesn't fit after a normal roll. To tell you how much the Z can handle, if I ever have enough money to buy another set of wheels I'd buy 19x11.5 or 19x12 for the rear

i had 285/35/19 on my rears. they rubbed BECAUSE i lowered my car. i had the fenders cut and WHEN it was at stock height, it was fine. when i lowered the car, i had to get 275s.

who cares if it looks stretched, i was so dang happy i could go over a bump without losing rubber!!!!

Just get them rolled and stop being a pansy (ok I was afraid at first but once my fenders were rolled and no damage occured it was all good.) Just make sure to take your time. I'm not lowered by the way but intend to drop it 1/2"-1-1/2" once I get my coilovers and have the same setup as you.

Let's put it this way you wanted the look, lip, wide stance whatever and the roll in my opinion is the proper way to do it.

that doesn't make any sense. If you had them cut you'd have even MORE clearance then someone with just rolled fenders.

So you're saying that with this set up you're rubbing....because you're dropped

-Cut fenders, 19x10.5+18 & 285/35/19 - drop unknown (but doesn't really matter in this case anyway, you'd still have plenty of clearance)

While I'm NOT rubbing at all with the following setup

-Rolled fenders, 19x11+17 & 285/35/19 - dropped ~1.25" camber can be set at -2.0 (OE spec) w/o problems

You must be running positive camber or something to make them rub man!

thanks everyone for your responses so far...

Greetings AlvinHuyn,

I was compelled to respond to your note. Brother...you just don't know how much I want this to work. These rims with these tires are so attractive that I wanna f*ck them. Two days ago, I decided against my installer and pledge full faith on these boards...and demanded that he slice, roll or do whatever it takes to make this work. Unfortunately, he declined and now I seek another to do the job.
Pondering on this frustration, I guess I've become leary of its fitment and decided to look for options.
I use these boards to gather unbiased, bone-truth answers. So don't feel that I'am wasting everyone's time but rather gathering "I don't give a **** what you think" responses. All info shared are well taken.
I do admire your gesture as it displays how strong you believe this will work.

good looking out...

I guess you didn't read my response from the other thread but I anticipated rolling/ shaving the fenders well before I took it to the shop. I learned so much from this site that I interviewed the shop worker on how they would do this: baseball bat vs. a dedicated roller. Or if was shave/cut, would they seal exposed edges to prevent rust.
If I was at stock height by the way, There would be no reason for me to start this thread....

actually when I was at stock height with those same wheels/tires, my rear tires would rub whenever I hit a big dip in the road. Now that i have the fenders rolled and am lowered on your same setup, no rubbing.

Just get your fenders rolled/cut and you wont have to worry bout changing tires or suspension

edit: I still dont get what the problem is, can you not find anyone who is willing to roll or cut the fenders

The 1,2,3's of monster wheel fitment is #1.Slammed, 2.Negative camber, and 3. Rolled or pulled fenders.

Roll fenders, if it doesn't fit, increase the camber.

yup, i must be making no sense at all....

to clear things up:

- yes, i had my fenders cut. i took off about 1/4-3/8ish (i say that because i didn't use a rule to measure)

- i am dropped, about 1.5 fingers height in the rear (Agency Power coilovers via Vivid Racing)

- when i was at the stock height, i did not rub... even if i bottomed out

- i did not change the camber when i had AutoInnovations install the suspension.

- Eric (ZDi[R]ty3) and Vince (Changvi) can both vouch for the rubbing. They saw the grooves and shredded sidewall.

- Eric actually had the wheels on his car briefly before i traded him my GT-Fs

Maybe I didn't cut the fenders as much as I could have, but again, there was more than enough clearance when I was at stock height. Shoot, I ran the 285s for like 5 months without any problems. Then when I lowered the car, I was rubbing over every bump.

If you still have doubts, contact Vince or Eric. They'll tell you about it.
