Default stock 2003 (vdc) 18" tire up grade?

I need the experts on this one!

My fronts are 225/45w r18 and being replaced with 255/40w r18
My rears are 245/45w r18 and being replaced with 275/40w r18

will this mess up the slip sensor? or abs?

I am keeping the stock rims!

That combo should work perfectly as it maintains the stock OD and stagger.

As Dave says, the overall diameter on your new tires maintains the correct staggered measurements so your car’s VDC won’t be a problem.

Just curious though… What is the width measurement of your 18” wheel?

He mentioned stock rims so they're probably 8" wide, maybe 8½ on the rear if he's got track wheels. I see where you're headed - that 275 on the rear is way too wide for an 8" wheel.

^^ Yes… you’re correct. If that is what he’s planning to do, I would approach that configuration with some cautions.

235/40/18-Front
255/40/18-Rear
-OEM+0 sizing
This would seem ideal for the 03 18" wheels.

So you want some bigger tires so you can race. You are maybe getting a 1in more width with a 275 tire, if that. They recommend a 9.5in tire for a 275. you have 8in rim. The biggest they recommend on an 8in rim is a 245 (tire rack and factory specs)

If the rear wheels are 8" wide, I'd not go wider than 245. If you have 8.5's though, you should be fine with a 255/40 18. Those are the sizes I'll be running on the BBS RE 18x8.5's I just bought. Prob 245/40 front and 255/40 rear. Just buy a quality, sticky 255/40 rear, and traction won't be a problem.

According to Nissan's Specs. the wheels are 8" wide, front and rear, unless you have the forged wheels from the Track model. Those where 8.5" in the rear. My recommendation would be 245/40/18 front and 255/45/18 in the rear. I would go no wider in the rear, and no lower in aspect ratio. You will maintain the stager, and you will reduce some of the car's understeer.
