if you want to be faster, stick to the oem size tires.

i use to think the same way but wider tires just made my car slower. You are going with a wider tire but my wheels felt heavier once everything was installed and had air and all. What are your mods? If you just have some bolt ons, you won't need wider tires. you need to get nice sticky tires in teh stock sizes. Try some nice tires than just wider tires. Bfgoodrich kdw2 are nice street tires.

I agree. I went wider on my OEM wheels and I did get more traction off the line, but it's slower.

I am completly stock....he is too...so what your saying is that the weight that is added by going wider will just off set the whole more rubber on the road thing?

My car felt more nimble with stock sized tires. It felt more responsive. Wider tires made my car feel heavy in a straight line and in corners. It did improve a bit in cornering but turn in was changed for worse.

If you are also on cheap tires or stock tires, they suck. Try some nice street tires. You definetely feel a difference on how the tires hook up. You are stock, no need to get wider tires.

Wider tires will make you faster.....in the corners. But like others have said, extra weight and rolling resistance of wider tires will likely slow you down a bit in a straight line.

If you want faster in a straight line, you want to go to a shorter tire, effectively changing the final drive ratio. Of course that will change your speedo readings as well (it will read faster than you're actually going).

+ wider tire lowers your MPG a little by having more friction with the ground.
BUT
I like wide tires cuz more grip!!!
what you can do is give some neg camber in the back so when you are on straigh line the whole tire doesn't contect the ground but when you turn, the whole tire will contect and will have better grip @ corner.( I take right turns at like 30+mph)haha

^this will cause uneven tire wear but much better for sprinted driving IMO
I like neg camber!!

actually wouldnt wider tires cause the middle section to just bowl in?

I might just stick an 8" rim in the 245.. guess its the same as what you guys are talking about except.. not to the extreme.

If you want ,, the NISMO wheels 19inchs.

This is what I would do.

18inch up front 245.40.18.

19inch in rear 275.35.19.

That is the stock OEM size for the NISMO wheels.

OEM GT Wheels are 18 245.40.18 and 19 265.35.19.

If you want a little more rubber. Do 225.45.18 and 265.40.18 in rear. I would not go over that. Plus that will keep your VDC happy and your MPG too.
