Hey guys
It just occured to me that if you intend to swap the wheels, it doesn't matter whether you get the stock 17 wheels or stock 18 wheels. The tire diameters are 666.8mm vs 677.7mm. Less than 11 millimeter difference, that's half an inch or less than 1% error.
So if you intend to upgrade anyways, you might as well go for 17s and save your dough. Am I missing something here?

Im not following what your saying or asking...
but I think you logic is flawed somewhere...
please clarify.
for the record,
17" rims have 225/50 and 235/50. thats 112.5 and 117.5 sidewall. alright.
18" has 225/45 and 245/45, thats 101.25 and 110.25
for a difference of 11.25 and 7.25.
difference in rim size is 12.5mm/radius meaning fronts are damn near the same(2mm off), rears are about 10mm off being the same(18s being larger). but the sizes are as close to equal as you can get with standard tire sizes.
most upgrading are gettin 18s and 19s for appearance, not performance or cost issues, or because thats the size they started with.

Ares,
Yes but I wasn't talking about tire height, I was talking about the overall diameter size. Since they are proximately the same size, someone with 17s can upgrade to 19s just as easily as others who went from 18s to 19s.

Well you've got the aesthetics of it bigger looks better on the Z, now when it comes to performance you'd want a smaller wheel with a larger tire on the rear if your drag racing, but if you wanted car control you'd want larger wheels with smaller tires.
