Curious to hear some opinions and perhaps even see some pictures of the result.

I don't believe they'll bulge. They will instead cave in a bit at the sidewall.

That's interesting. How come? I thought they'd only bulge if my rim was too wide.

You might want to look up the definition of bulge, based on what you posted above, you are confusing bulge with stretch

I think I understand what you mean by bulge, now. The tire will protrude over the rim, correct? If so, that's what I meant by the sidewall being caved/angled inward, creating a protrusion.

Arnie,

Redlude97 is correct. And, I suspect he is becoming somewhat frustrated trying to explain this to you.

If you mount a tire that has a section width that is wider than what the tire’s manufacturer specifies (i.e., a 275/40-18” tire on a 18x8.5” rim when it should be on at least a 18x9” rim), the tire will “bulge” a little and have a more convex side-wall profile.

My '05 Track model on 245/40R18 fronts and 275/40R18 rears:

If I didn't tell you that they were 275s, you probably couldn't tell...

Yeah, but track rims are wider than non-track OEMs, no? I mean, the they come with 265 rears vs the 245 rears the rest of us get.

I don't understand the appeal of wider tires on OEM wheels? If you want wider tires why not do it right and get wider wheels? Confused.

Thats pretty easy to tell, you can see the difference in bulge from the front to the rear

Nismo wheels are 18x9 19x10, not applicable in this situation

That wasn’t Arnie’s (the OP) question. Arnie asked for pictures of a 275 or 265 on a 18/8.5” rim.

And, PDX Racer made the effort to post a picture showing what the OP asks to see.

I would thank PDX Racer for taking the time and effort to post a good picture. I'm sure Arnie also is appreciative.

Jeez Phil… “listen-up”

Huh?

Nismo doesn't have a 9" width or a 10" width wheel for the Z.

Nismo wheels are front 18x8.5” and rear 18x9.5”, or the same widths in Nismo 19” wheels.
