Has anyone contacted their dealer about the highway bounce
I am sure everyone here has experienced the bounce you get sometimes going down a highway at higher speeds (it's around 60 - 70 mph when I notice it) Has any one approached Nissan about an upgrade on the struts, shocks and or springs. New automobiles are not supposed to act this way.
Just curious,

There is a difference between a tight suspension and this. I have owned plenty of sports cars and none bounced. It's as if the shocks and struts on this car are not strong enough to dampen the return the spring is causing. Stiff ride and hard ride in a sports car I can handle but this car looks down right silly when it starts to bounce. I was driving down the highway last week and pulled up to another Z and there we we just bouncing away. I was embarrassed for us both when a s2000 came past us. I didn't see his car bouncing. Anyway, It only happens on certain roads, not all of them. Just doesn't seem right.

Seriously, in eight months, I have NEVER experienced any sort of bounce that would be noticeable from another car. The springs and shocks could be dialed in better, but this car handles great and is a joy to drive. If the search option is working on this site, you might want to try it. There are dozens of post about this subject.
Yes, I have noticed it.
It is a "bunny hop" thing that seems to start on soem bounce to flat transition, and the car just goes down the road with a boing-boing-boing....
I switched my springs to Eibachs and it is gone.

I absolutely have it, AND it is absolutely noticable. In fact it Looks ridiculous when you see another Z on the high way.
Yes, it is embarrassing, NO the car should not be doing this because it’s a “sports car”.
The fact that Nissan actually produced this suspension is disturbing.
I have only seen cars bounce like this on the highway that have been lowered ghetto style (not correctly)

Go to the Problems/Maintenance Forum and check out my thread on this problem. It is a problem and sports cars should not have it. I have owned 30 sports cars and raced many of them.
The car does have some bounce, but nothing I've experienced that could be noticed from a distance....maybe the roads are just better in Nevada. I've definitely felt it, for sure, but about 50% of it disappeared when I went from 18" to 19" wheels and Toyo tires...and the ride even improved.
I'll bet the 2004 Z doesn't bounce at all...and Nissan will probably say nothing about any changes.
