Think the Dealer is Wrong
While driving around last sunday during a rain storm I look down and notice that I have 4 lights on. ABS, BREAK, VDC off, SLIP also the Speedometer, Tachometer, and Odometer were all not working. I take it to the dealership and here is what they tell me. The only problem we can find is that you have the same size tire on the front and rear. 245, 45, 18 (not stock wheels i got the car used with some aftermarket ones) I just recently replaced the two rear tires with BFGoodrich gforce KDW 245, 45, 18 same as what was on there before. Now the guy from the dealership is telling me that if i replace the front tire with a 225, 45, 18 that will fix the problem and that the sencer is designed to work with the two differant tire sizes. I explained to him that for the last 20k miles it have had the same size tires on and no problem. What do you all think is this guy nuts? I have a 2003 Enthusiast. Thanks for the help!

Dealer is feding you a bunch of BS!!!!!! There are thousands of Z's out there with all kinds of mismatched sizes of tires and wheels front and back and I quarantee this is not a problem on 99.9% of them. Take the car to another Nissan dealer and get another opinion.
Tires would be the case if your SLIP light was on. Otherwise, there's something really wrong with your car. Take it to Autozone for free service, have them scan for any codes and have them check the alternator and battery.
a while back i had the same exact problem and all it was was low brake fluid believe it or not. but the dealer is definitely feeding you bs because i run my own tire shop and have plenty of friends with tire sizing like yours with no problems with the dash indicators. hope this helped!
thats probably one of the dumbest thing i have ever heard. Ive never had all of that happen to me but a few months ago my Tach stopped working while i was driving. I just pulled into a parking lot, turned my car off and waited a minute and turned it back on and it worked fine again. Is their another Nissan dealership around your area that you can try?

go talk to the service manager and make it know how upset you are.
tell him whats going on and ask him to scan for any stored codes.
tell him that you've already dealt with one technician and were not satisfied
99% of the time - this guarantees results.

The Touring has VDC.
Just got off the phone with the service manager who told me he was not aware that the Speedometer, Tachometer, and Odometer were all not working. He got quiet paused for a min and said let me get back to you. Now what kind of a mechanic drives a car to diagnose a problem and doesnt realise that the Speedometer or Tachometer are not working.

Just goes to show how crappy Nissan's service is. My friend drives an RX330 (don't laugh, he's married with kids) and when he took it in to Lexus for service, they treated him like a king, i.e., didn't try to BS him about what was wrong, went the extra mile to diagnose the problem, had a clean waiting room with food and Internet access, etc.
When they found out that they needed to keep the RX overnight, they handed him the keys to an IS loaner no questions asked. Now that's how to get repeat business.
BTW, that "tires are causing gauges to malfunction" tripe was so ludicrous that I would have laughed right there over the phone at the guy. What a load of crap.
