Default need advice with aftermarket...

ok so its the first time im getting new rims for my 2005 enthusiast with stock 17's

i wanna go up to 18's and i already found my tires.. front 245/40-18 and rear 275/40-18. now its the rims that im searching for. I went on Discounttiredirect and input my info and these two wheels came up.

1. http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...100&vid=011295

2. http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...100&vid=011295

Now i've never gotten aftermarket so i don't wanna spend money and find out it wont fit. I've tried educating myself with the offset on this board but i'm still a bit confused. I just want to know whether either of these two will work on the Z. Also, I'm a bit worried since all the aftermarket wheels i see on this board are 8.5 (front) to 9 (rear) width but these two are 7.5, is that bad?

any help would be nice, thanks. and yes i know its a noob question but i'd rather ask then be stupid spending money.

look through the marketplace for your wheels. Contact a vendor and discuss sizing.

I would not drop width down to a 7.5" and the offsets for those two you link are not even close to optimal for the Z. IMHO, look for an 18x9 front with around a +18 offset and an 18x10 rear with around a +22 offset.

7.5" rim will most likely not allow a 275 wide tire...you'd want to aim for around a 9" rim for a 275 (a 10" is closer to optimal, but I like slightly smaller rims for my street set-up b/c the tire will buldge a little and protect the rim from curb rash)

You are way off on wheel and tire size. To keep things simple match the OEM wheel and tire size.

yea i've been seaching all the 18" thread and i finally decided on the 18" Kazera KZ-A ... everyone had very good reviews on it.

front will be 18X8.5 (30 offset) and rear 18X9.5 (35 offset) ... this will work with my original setup of tires 245/40-18 (front) and 275/40-18 (rear) right?

yes it will work but you will "need" wheel spacers to make them look flush.
caouse with those offsets they will look sunken in.

The wheel-tire combination is good, but I am uncertain about offset. Check with a offset calculator before buying.

another option would the Rota P45Rs i've been reading about ... 19.5 all around with a 25 offset... someone is running the same wheel option or 245/40 and 275/40... looking very appealing

245 is going to be a little stretched for 9.5. 275 works well, front and rear
PM sent btw.

i talked to subydude and he told me i could get (4) Rota P45R 18X9.5 30 offset and he'd throw in 5mm spacer for free... is that what i would need to fit them in there?

^^ Glad to hear someone say this about spacers.

I don’t get why anyone would deliberately buy wheels with the wrong offset (there’s an abundance of good looking wheels with the right specifications), and then pay more $$ and endure more complexity adding spacers.

I would think spacers are only for people who mistakenly buy wheels with the wrong offset and need to recover from their initial error.

Hey Joe

I spoke with you on AIM today. As I mentioned we have the 18x8.5/18x9.5 staggered setup available in the P45's. I also have the 18x9.5 non staggered setup which is very popular. Both of these setups will provide a great fit with or without spacers. The 18x9.5 +30 does not have the "wrong" offset, in fact this is the same size the Nismo wheels come in. People often want a very flush look and this is why they opt for a lower offset.

Here is a picture of the 18x9.5 +30 non staggered in Hyper Silver. This is how the wheels look without spacers.

If you have any other questions feel free to PM me, msg me on AIM in the morning, or post them up here

-Dan

Why mess with wheels when you can replace the car.
