Question Staggered Setup Made Equal?

The 350Z and G35 coupe all come from the factory with OEM staggered setups, where the rear diameters are larger than the front diameters. Has anyone explored the idea of equalizing the front and rear diameters? In particular, I want to make the front diameters as large as the rear diameters.

Will this possibly throw off the speedometer and VDC a bit? Will the car still be driveable?

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It wont throw anything off and will make the car more neutral. Please search, this topic has been covered extensively in the past.

Please keep in mind it is overall tire height that affects speedometer reading (combination of wheel diameter and sidewall aspect ratio). It is the ratio of front to rear wheel/tire height that will throw off VDC. Tire width will not be a factor in these systems, but will affect the handling balance of the car, as we have mentioned.

I see that you have some responses, but none of these provide specifics. Here is my personal experience.

I have a 2003 Performance model (and thus VDC) on which I run this setup in the winter: 225/55-17” on all 4 wheels (so the setup is “all-square”). That size matches the stock rear diameter (26.9”), but is taller than the stock fronts. I was initially concerned about using this setup (too tall fronts), but I have not experienced any problems with VDC and this “all-square” setup. My speedometer is right on (checked against my car’s GPS).

I cannot say what would happen with summer performance tires since my summer setup is square width-wise (245’s front and rear on 18" wheels), but my summer tires have aspect ratios of 40 front and 45 rear (the stock diameter stagger).

Hope this is helpful,
