Default KDW 2's vs R888

I'm trying to decide on which tires to order w/ my wheels. People that have had both, are the R888's worth the extra money??? I'm running stock block twins not pushing much more than 400 to the wheels. I like the look of the KDW's and from what I've read they do better in the wet. Will the KDW's grip in 2nd for me?

Look into some Bridgestone RE-01R's, they're more streetable than R888's and probably a lot grippier than KDWs.

It's def not dd. I've had it for about 6 months and just turned my 4500 mile. And that included a trip to Orlando and back!

I daily drive my 565whp Z with Proxes R888's and I live in FL. They don't do as well as a summer tire in the wet, but they do just fine. If you get stuck in a massive downpour then go 10mph slower and you will be fine.

What about KDW's on the front and R888's on the rear? Does that make any sense. Im just thinking the front doesn't need the R compound and it may do better if there is a little water. Do I need a flame suit?!

Your car would understeer horribly.

then do the R888s...
i dont think the RE-05 will even come close to the grip the R888s have, and they dont come in good sizes for 19s(not sure if you have 18s or 19s though)

are you basing this of personal experience, or just talking because you read somethign on the board....(no pun)
Cause ive heard the arguments on running different tires, but i run t1rs on front and R888s rear, no issues....
i believe r0me is also running t1rs fronts and R888s rear & has no issues.

Consider that the only conditions the setup will see will be mostly dry

If the R888s are that much stickier, and you're running a staggered setup (as most people do) your car probably understeers as you approach the limits. You can have more throttle through the turn, but the dry handling capabilities of your car would be better if you were running r888s all around.

Just my

I'm running RE040s in the front and T1Rs in the rear, and I have noticed a greater propensity to understeer since I made the change from RE040s in the rear.

IC
isn't that the opposite? you went with softer on the front than on the rear (compared to the t1r fron adn r888 rear)
