Mounting Wheels wo/ tmps
Hi,
I am just wondering if I would be able to mount my wheels on my car, when the wheels do not have TMPS, and my car has TMPS.
Do I have to buy a set of TMPS or would I be able to drive and not have any sounds or lights go off?
Thanks

The light goes on after about 45 mins of straight driving, so really it only does that if I'm driving on the highway for a decent length.
The beeping sound only goes off if it senses that one 1 wheel is 25% less pressure than the others.

Reading the previous answers to your question, it’s apparent that warnings/effects you get when not mounting sensors in your wheels differ depending upon the model year of your Z.
I have a 2003 Performance model (thus equipped with TPMS) on which I mount winter tires and wheels, and not bother mounting TPMS. I don’t get any audio beep, and no warning light appears on the dash. If I toggle the small left LCD (in the three-cluster instrument pod above the upper/forward cubby) to TPMS, all I see is “----“ in the area where the I would have a PSI reading for each wheel.
So… the 2003 model has more TPMS features (you see the actual tire pressures in the upper triple-gauge cluster when the sensors are in the wheels), but never have any annoying dash warning light or audio warning when you do not install the TPMS sensors in the wheels.
