Default Help me pick some wheels! =\ <~Frustrated

Hey guys, I need to buy some wheels but I am having major trouble finding nice ones that are somewhat affordable. I wish I could buy Volk SF-Challenge or SF-Winning but that is way beyond my price range... aka anything near $3k. Can you guys recommend some wheels that are similar to the ones I mentioned but more around the $2k range. Thanks soo much!!!

so are we talking $2k for just the wheels alone, or wheel and tire package?

check the used market for wheels and tires. you can get some decent mesh-type wheels for under $2k if u just look around.

everyone's style is different.. but it's your car.. you shouldnt have people tell u what to get.

$2k for just wheels. I like the SF-Winning and Challenge. Those type of wheels.

I was in the same boat.. but consider this, tires are going to add another $1200 for 19s. So, even with 2k wheels, you're still out 3K.. I know, it hurts.

I opted for the Ro_ja r2-5, also known as the Gramlight 57F Pro. You get the same exact forged barrel and fastening system as the Challenge. They come in sweet Rays boxes, just like Volks. But, they have a cast center and add 1-2 lbs. Best part? They can be had for under 2k right now, they are being clearanced, they were 2600ish.

Since its the same wheel (57F pro), you can source Gramlight centercaps and the Ro_Ja by Rays is a sticker that can be removed. Actually, Volk caps fit too, but you'd catch hell for that understandably.

they have a fatter spoke and less detail in the center. But, they still look great. There are currently two sets with tires for sale right now, one merc silver and the other black.

(I have seen these personally at zdayz. They looked as he describes them, although I did not actually inspect them, just noticed he had the same wheels I had )

Yeah I just dropped $1300 just in tires for my 19's. I found some Axis Hiro's on here. You just have to shop around for what you want.

Volks do not cost $3k, Are you adding shipping to those costs? If you don't want to save a few hundred more to get them, I would consider PIAA Super Rozzas. You can find those for a little less than $2K and I came real close to getting them before I bought My Volk GTFs.

Guys, I bit the bullet and ordered Volk SF Challenge GOLD 19x9.5 +28 19x10.5 +23 from Injected Performance. I'm so exited. I did not want to spend this much but I'd rather buy something that I love. =) So this thread has now changed to which tires should I get for these wheels... Thank you very much for those who posted some comments and suggestions.

i know you said Sf challenge, but around 2k you have alot of great wheels.

most Advans and cast Work wheels are in the 2k price range. I would also suggest going with a 18 inch rim.

Nice and Congrtas on your purchase. They're going to look SICK on a DB. Are those the only offsets they had? +28 & +23

Just check the Marketplace and ask around. It'll be way cheaper then picking up a new set.

he already bought new.. Buying used isnt always a slam dunk, I lost $1000 on a set of wheels 3 months ago. I have the Advan wheels, just cant use them. So, I dont blame anyone for buying new

Buying is new great since you have first dibs at exactly what you want. If you do your research and know exactly what wheels you want, you can probably get them used at a discounted price.

I'd buy everything new if I was Billy Gates, but everyone has a budget.

congrats on your new purchase.

As far as tires, I don't like my BF Goodridge KDW2.
Traction is great but tire noise is a bit unbearable for me.

The tires I put on my stockers are Goodyear Eagle F1 All seasons. No complaints there.
