I bet it rode like hell though.

Here's where your concern should be - I'd bet that the tech at the dealership read the max psi rating from the sidewall rather than lookup the correct tire pressure from the manual or door jamb plaque. I'd call the service adviser at the dealership and make them aware of the problem.
Excellent tid bit of info Dave.

The other day I was servicing my GF's car. Specs called for 32psi all the way around. Three tires were on the money, one had 48psi. Bad tech FTL...

Oldsnail: When you do let out some of the excess air out, do it while the tires
are COLD. That applies when adding air to them, also.

working in a dealership i have seen as much as 90 psi in one mini van. it sometimes takes 120 psi to mount the tire on the rim. so its ok but i wold still drop it down because it can change your alignment.

i run my fronts at 47psi warm, and the rears 45psi warm, never had any problems, i run this all the time. The only problem that i can see is the tire wear with neg camber appears more apparent. Better gas milage, better handling, all good things. Anyone who says otherwise is a nancy.

47psi - that's gotta feel like riding on wagon wheels.

Better handling? It's got to be bouncing over the top of bumps and ripples in the road. In a turn, I can easily imagine it skittering off the road.

if it were skittering off the road do you think i would keep running my tire pressure at that psi? It's not bad at all in my opinion. i've autocrossed it at that psi, ran great times, held great in the corners.

they should all be 35psi or slightly below 35 psi. thats the best traction/tire wear and imo thats what matters when it comes to tires.
