Default Camber,Tire,Suspension, Issues

I am running bridgestone potenza's,
225/40/18" up front &
245/4018"/s in the rear

In the past year, my driver side front tire developed a heat ring,
supposedly from driving on low air pressure and had to be replaced...

then a few months later,
same side tire kept running low on air,
then as i looked closer, the inside wall was chewed up, down to the belt, obviously the camber was off. all that money for the car and they can't throw in a camber adjustment..... cheep bastards
----------------------------------------------------------
I thought it was just the one side,
the other front tire was chewed up down the belt....
then I received a letter about the class action lawsuit to be filed....
it's all a bunch of B.S., talk about a bad design flaw,

--------------------------------------------------------------
so the guy at the tire shop tells me I need a camber kit....
my rear tires are just about bald also,
although the good news is, the tread wear is even....
----------------------------------------------------------------------
after reading and reading and reading on all the available products out there..

I'm starting to see what type of set-up will suit my 04-Z vert
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I like to race around the streets of course, although the police are cracking down on any speeding in my area of South Orange County...

I have two speeding tickets now, 1 for $200 and the other for $300
apparently the police are working in teams writing tickets,
one will clock you and the other didn't even see you, although his partner radios him and now you pay.....

so if anyone is thinking of speeding in my area of south orange county, just as you pass san juan capistrano on the 5 fwy south, numerous speed traps...
---------------------------------------------------------------------
so these are some of the products i'm interested in:

NITTO NT 555 EXTREMEM PERFORMANCE TIRES
TEINS - S -TECHS SPRINGS
SWIFT SPEC Rs SPRINGS
EIBACK PRO-KIT
EIBACH RECCOMMENDED ALIGNMENT KIT
------------------------------------------------------------
I HAVE 2 SCENARIOS OF A TIRE SET-UP

1ST. SQUARE SET-UP
SET OF 4 -245/45/18"' ALL THE WAY AROUND
------------------------------------------------------------
2ND. FRONTS > 245/45/18'S
REARS > 255/45/18"S <OR SHOULD I GO A STEP LGR IN SIZE for rears

keep in mind, I don't want my girl giving me a hard time because the z bottoms out , or you can feel every bump,

I definately want to drop it at least 1" or more all the way around,
so if i go from a 40 series to a 45 series, that might soften it up...
-----------------------------------------------------------------
from what I've read ,the eibach pro-kit might work for me,
let me know what you fellow enthusiasts think of these products?...
thanks,

You seem like you're a very smart guy. I'm sure you will find some good tires for racing around on the streets.

May i suggest 245/40 front and 245/45 rears and get an alignment. Also for the rear alignment have them set it closer to -1.2 i believe.

thanks for the advice guys...
I purchased the tires last week...
Nitto NT 555 Extreme Performance
fronts > 245.45.18"s
Rears > 255.45.18"s
they look great on the Z..... Now it's time to deal with the camber issues...
The Eibach Factory in Irvine is about 5 miles from me....
from what I've read, the Camber/Toe alignment kit is what i need,

I was curious what you guys think of air ride suspension on the Z?

here's a question for one of you.... can I use shorter springs with an air ride?
or does the air suspension not use springs?

my tires have some beef to them, so The ride is smooth so far, you and I know once i drop this beast, I'm going to feel every little bump, and that means the ole lady is gonna give me an earful.....
she likes the stock feel, and I like it slammed!!!

I appreciate the feedback...
I'll send some pics in the next post....

some recall..... they won't admitt it's a design flaw....and they won't take responsibility and repair all those Z's with camber issues.....
so they came up with giving away 2 replacement tires....
EiBach's alignment camber/toe kit should solve this problem...
mo money $$$$$

Its not a camber issue, its a TOE issue. BTW you also bought a sports car, the suspension is factory designed to wear tires and give better handling. Hardly any sports cars will give even wear of the tires, especially when being raced around in the corners.

how can you get better handling if your riding on the inside edge of the tire a slight camber is great for cornering but this is rediculous
the tire guys, the pro shops, Nissan service advisors &
members here say it's a camber issue,
my front tires are worn/feathered on the inside,
which is a result of the wheels being cambered..??

thanks for reminding me it's a sports car....

I'm pretty sure the factory pulled a boner
when they under>designed this year Z

far as handling goes,
I've owned many sports cars that handled excellent in cornering &
I wasn't tearing up tires for handling...

Do U actually think Nissan's thought was to sell the idea of
"Its a race car with cambered wheels so you stay tight in the corners"

ppplease, they didn't realize their design was going to tear up tires on these particular year Z's, thats why the New Z's don't have this problem....

the lawsuit is a big joke ....
the lawyers will take the $$$$
and scadaddle and laugh all the way to the bank....

If Nissan owed up to it, they could be sued by somone who had an accident as a result of worn tires due to this underdesign as I like to call it.....

So they lawyer us some more and offer Z owners 2 crappy tires.....

I think Nissan should comp every Z owner w/this problem - a front & Rear Camber Kit
& be done with it..... hear that Nissan

from what i hear the spc camber kit is about that price anyways....
although that might be for just 2 wheels....

1972 Mazda RX-2 Rotary 13b
1988 Mazda Rx-7

it's cheaper to keep her....no obscenities
