Hi,

I have just got my car back and its going crazy fast with loads of talk...

Currently have 305's on the back and am lighting them up in 3rd gear... these are sportmax tires......

After searching I found an R888 in a 305 for a 19inch rim... my tuner reckons they will be better but nothing beats more tread... so am looking at putting a 345 on the back and having the rims wider....

This means an extra 8 cm of rubber on the road compared to the R888...

Tirerack is selling the 345/35/19 bridgestone for 336$ and although I will have to import it to SA its still reasonable in price... R888 sell for round the same, maybe a bit more....

has anyone had major experience with the grip issue and putting down rubber etc as mentioned... basically is a semi-slick in the same size 305 going to be better than a standard tire, bit softer with 8 cm's of extra rubber...

imo when looking at tires that grip well look at what can be used in d1 and fd ... they are only allowd to use the most grippiest tires and drifters are very familure with grip issues

i have no idea how much power you have / what you want to do

high performance tires work for most high hp cars in racing so if your having traction problems in 3rd i'd assume your putting out a shitload of hp or you just buy sucky tires or you are pressing the gas a bit while shifting... and that is gonna happen no matter how much hp you have (did it with my stock 2003 350z in 4th gear)

The r888's will be better. Guys with 500whp and 500wtq are hooking up with 295 r888's over in the FI section.

sorry 4 posting in the wrong section, I usually post from one place and it ends up in the write section so am probably pissing of the admin...


my cars pushing out 389kw at the hubs with just over 700nm talk but it and thats at .8 of a bar...

the thing kicks in early with the aps twin turbos and the engines been rebuilt to a 3.8 with 9.2 cp pistons... this gives me more torque and hp lower down the range and its freaking me out a bit, have gone side ways at 100kms an hour twice already... the sport max tires are pretty good and found on the average super car...

am going for another tune at a bit higher boost and think its going to get worse so am very light on the throttle at the moment... the tune is to improve the surging and get more hp... really like the look of a big fat back tire but what u saying is a R888 sticks more...

Unless you have a widebody your not fitting anything bigger than a 315 on there wit ha perfect offset. More likely a 305. I use the R888's and there is no comparison between any street tire and the R compound R888. I have 565 whp and 520 ft-lbs of tourque and street tires were a joke. The R888 has much better traction. Go for the 305/30/19.

thats great, my power is almost there, round 520... when do u gain traction?

on first, can u put ur foot flat once u start rolling? if not how bout second?

hi guys,

I have the following options for buying:

Michelin Pilot Sport - Competition "semi slicks" 325/30/19's
R888's 305/30/19 "semi slicks"

Or I can widen my rims again to accomodate the 345/35/19's in a street tire, the same ones that went on the ENZO 2002 model, get them from tirerack, they are bridgestones... I dont know if i need to do things with replacement camber there so any advice please... they also sell a semi slick in the 345 ... dont know which is the best option right now.. cost wise the semi slick in the 345 is the same as the michelin 325, if I take the 345 I need to widen the rims, if I take the 325 I need a spacer... mmm...

basically wondering which tire would you guys take... I need that traction so that I can keep up with the super cars from first and leave them behind in second and third...

so you are putting down 530hp or approx 450whp. I dont know how to convert the nm to wtq

the one based on personal experience, I don't want a specific answer, just someone with know-how in the tire, grip arena...

my rides pushing out about +520whp but the torque is more aggressive as it is a 3.8L...

does anyone here have a tire that grips from 1st gear with over 500whp... and also the camber issue, again if anyone knows if I need to get aftermarket parts to cater for a 345 on the rear...

I have a wide body kit, being doing my own fabrication JetPilot on the buddy club 2 thread...

the rim I have is already 11.5 inches and will widen it to 12.5 -13 inches on the outside increasing the size of the dish some... do u think there will be camber issues for the rear?

jetPilot, u mentioned u running r888 295, do they grip from 1st...? they rated at 100, the michelins come in a 345 semi slick and r rated at 80... do u think they will hook up from 1st? sounds like u have some issue with the 345 fitting on the back? if u have any reasons let me know cause the last thing I need is to widen the rims outside, get the tire and have them rubbing against the shock or something... theres a way around everything... just at a price

howzit,

for anyone who is interested, you can run 325's in an 18 or 19 inch on the rear without any camber issues... fitment with spacers and/or widebody required...

will post pics of the michelins, they will be 325/30/19's "semi-slicks" once they arrive... 4 to 6 weeks wait adn let u know how they hook up... they have a softer compound that the r888's being 100 to 80... tread wear is quoted at 7k miles road use from tirerack...

389kw = roughly 521HP
700nm = roughly 516 ft/lbs torque

I would like to see pics of a 325 on a Z. I have never seen that before and I didn't think it could be done.

I hook up 580whp with KDW2's with proper camber in the rear in 2nd gear. Those R888's wont hook in 1st, neither will street tires so why waste money on them. 520whp with the same TQ shouldnt be an issue with proper algnment to hook up from 2nd. You wont hook up in 1st unless on hot DR's or slicks.
