Hello i have a question i hit a wooden pallet on the road the other day coming home from the movies it put a hole in my front bumper messed up the alignment and put a nail in my rear tire. However when i bought my Z it didnt come with an owners manual and if it did i may have missed placed it. So im trying to get the insurance to pay for the tire but a buddy of mine owns a sti 04 and blew his tire in an accident in which his owners manual states due to it being AWD you have to replace all tires because it could damage the drivetrain due to uneven tire wear/traction. What im asking is does the Z manual state anything about replacing both rear tires if one is wore or blows due to it can cause drivetrain damage? Any and all help is great i work 5 days a week and havent had time lately to search other sites. Thanks in advance.

I beleive it depends how worn your tires are. For example I blew a tire in my RSX and it had about 1/2 tread life left on the other side, so I replaced them both.

If the tires are fairly new I do not think its that big of a deal. One solution is to turn the wheel and do donuts and let the lsd go to work and burn down the new tire untill it matches the old one

Just kidding dont do that.

To me for another 100- 200 bucks to replace an additional one its worth it for the saftey and performance. Then you can always keep the old one in your garage as a spare or something.

I agree with lento, if your other tire is pretty new, just replace the blown one - but I would get the same exact tire.

If the other tire needs to be replaced kinda soon anyway, just replace them both with whatever

Yup agree with everyone as long the other isnt completely worn etc...You can replace single tires no prob. And yes get an exact replacement tire.

I blew out a rear tire, replaced just the one and everthing has been fine for nearly a year now. Your good.

Awesome thanks fellas. I just had the insurance guy come by takes pics and drop off the check and they said they would pay for the tire as well. The dude was mad cool!

As others have said, replacing one tire should be ok as long as the other isn't REALLY worn, and then its mainly to make sure the car tracks straight. Your buddy's STI has a very sensitive all wheel drive system, and it might mistake one worn tire for a lack of traction on the roadsurface and inappropriately assign power to other wheels, etc. Once you DO replace the tire, go for a drive and make sure the car tracks straight and drives well. I'm sorry to hear about the accident, I would be spitting nails...
