Default will this work

ok...so over the weekend i looked at some tires on some sports cars in my area...35 profile is damn thin..i know everyones been running it and love it but i dont know howlong i will survive with those in NY...

my question is...aside from a huge speedometer throwoff

what other serious problems will i encounter with 245/40/19 and 285/40/19

will it rub on top??? (i have no drop)

You may want to pm sirmike1 on this site. He is running a 275/40/19 on the back of his car and it looks like a 60's muscle car. It definately adds some sidewall but it will me noticably slower. Your front overall diameter would be .7" taller then stock and you rear would be a crazy 1.3" taller. And thats assuming you have 18's stock. If you have the 17's, then the difference would be even greater.

lol jay..i wouldn't exactly call it looking like a 60's muscle car! how about it looks a little bit meatier And no it doesn't rub havabooz, but it's 275/40/19, not 285/40/19. If you'd like to take a look at it, let me know. I also live in the tri state area so i know about surviving those human sized potholes. Here's a pic of the tires.

Oh yeah, jay the procharger was delayed for some reason but according to ATI, it's scheduled for delivery today. So give it a week and we should be able to start testing I'll let you know as soon as it comes in.

I think you will be fine with a 275/35 with the 10". The problem I have with my 18's are the front. I have already bent one of them with a 235/40/18. You just have to be careful.... NY is just as bad as NJ...
Mike, my car is getting dropped off tonight for the computer so I should have some results by thursday. Call me or email me if you want to come down thursday to check it out! I should also have the plenum by then.

I actually went with the 40's because i was looking all over for 275/35/19's but couldn't find any anywhere. So i either had to go with 30's or 40's. Being that it was not practical for anything thinner in these areas, i went with the 40's. Also, I have 10.5 in the rear. So far I've had no problems at all with the profile.

About you coming from 17 in rims.. I'm not sure if it will make that big of a difference where you'd be forced to go with 35's. You'd have to ask someone else on that, I'm assuming it may only be a matter of a couple mph.

i know NY is 10x worse ( i live there in the winter) (in NJ for teh summer)

j's......when you say you bent your wheel how did you repair it...did you have to buy a new wheel??

and wouldnt a 285 give me more protection from curbing

i have been looking into the 285 because vic350z has it and says it works...so since 285 has more meat than 275 im all for it

Vic does have a 285 but he has it in a 35 rofile.. To compare sizes to stock height and diameter, use a tire calculator like www.powerdog.com/tiresize.cgi and type in the stock size and then the sizes you are thinking of.......

Mike,
I will have he plenum on weds and testing thurs! I won't be around till sun afternoon... going to a bachleor party in ac...

i noticed you were in the process of creating a piggyback ecu...i promised myself to put some money in performance mods before i spend it all on looks

reason im askin you in this thread is cause im a little embarrassed cause i dont exactly know how an ecu functions

would you mind just giving me a crash course

assuming the car is stock what does the ecu do to create more power...and are there any negatives?
