So I looked at my rear tires today and they seem to be worn out. How long did you guys last on your stock tires until you had to get new ones?

 

mine didnt last very long so i bought volks

 

im surprised u made it to 20. I had to swap to new tires at 14.. lol

replaced mine at 16000miles

stock re040 are trash imo... not worth the money at all..

don't get the stock again... really.. look something else!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Zs need high performance tires... they dont last that long compare to passenger tires..

BUT

they grip x10 better than those passenger tires..

personally do not like T1-R for having soft sidewall and getting mushy after few laps...

have Kumho Ecxta 245/40/18 275/40/18 and going to replace it with the same Kumho!

best bang for the buck imo.. PS2s are nice, but not directional, that means, you can't rotate them.. and too expensive for me..

 

And how do you make this judgement? Tread depth? Wear bar lines showing?

 

My Goodyear GS-D3's - replaced after 22k miles
My Michelin PS2's - replaced after 23k miles

Was pretty pleased with the mileage on both sets, considering.....track days, auto-x, Tail of the Dragon, spirited driving, etc. Both sets began to have rubber hardening at 15k or so.........

i'm at 16k on my stockers. in no way do i take it easy on them, but alot of the wear came from excessive camber that was recently fixed.

 

The tread depth.

 

My rears were ready for replacement at 17,000. The fronts still had plenty of tread left. However, I went and replaced all four with Goodyear Eagle GS-D3s. Love them!

 

i'm considering these tires. are they really that great? as in grip and tread wear..

 

Some members will get 50,000 miles on tires and others 5,000. Doesn't matter much. When its time for tires its time for tires.

About 18k for the rear. Fronts still have about 40% at 21k.

25000 on rears, fronts are still going strong at 33000. Should make it to 40.
