Default my front lips on my wheels are bigger. Is ths Right? Help.

I recently order SSR GT3 from tirerack. fronts are 18x18.5 and in the rear 18x9. But for some reason, my front wheel lips are bigger the the rear wheel lips. Is this right. Please help. Also has anyone fit 245-45-18 tires on 18x10.5 rims.

Help.

ummmm no, 245s will NEVER fit on 10.5" rims, your lookin at more like 305s WAY out of 245 range.

are you sure you put the right tires on the front?

what are your offsets? they sound a little messed up, the offset has alot to do with what lip you get.

I have SSR GT3

Front: 18x8.5 +30 offset w/ 225-45-18 (Bigger Lips)

Rear: 18x9 +31 w/ 245-45-18
(Smaller Lips)

Even though the rear wheels are wider, they have smaller lips. The off set is different only by 1mm. Thats weird.

I suggest you call tire rack, a bigger lip in the front will look funky. Is that the stock rubber you are putting on?

Houston...we have a problem. Look at the back of the wheel and be sure everything is correct.

Yes a 245 can fit on a 10.5 inch rim. I have seen 225's on 10 inch rims.

Obviously for most of you guys the wider the tire the better (more traction) but for us drifters, 305's are generally not the tire of choice... I will be running 245's front and rear on 18x9 and 18x10.

Im assuming you want to mount your stock tires onto the new wheels? If so, go right ahead, they will fit. Just get some nicer tires when you get the money. The stockers arent the best.

Just wanted to give an update. I talk guy's at America's tire company and they talk to Tirerack. Tirerack said that they were unaware of that problem until they sent someone to the warehouse and measure it. They're going to send a new wheels 18x10.5. SSR made some adjustment on the wheels but did not notify the Tirerack so if any one is ordering 18x9 becareful of shorter lips.

Are you sure? I want to make sure.

If anyone has a pic of mounting 245-45-18 on 18x10.5 please post some pic.

Thank You.

I am not an expert, but I find it pretty hard to fit a 245 tire on 10.5 rim. Again, just my opinion, I may be wrong.

I will have pics of my 245/40/18s on 10" rims as soon as they get here. But the 245/45 stock size has a lil more sideway anyway for you to play with, they will definately fit.

Glad I didn't go through that...I just had SSR-GT3 installed this week that I got from Tirerack. FYI, installing the TPMS was a bit of the pain.

F 18x8.5 +30 Nitto 245/40/18
R 18x10.5 +43 Nitton 275/40/18

The rear lip is definelty bigger than the front lip on these. I think the front lip is 2.5" and the rear is at least 3" lip.

So far I've very pleased with them.

SSR sometimes uses high & low surface mounting pads and it looks like this is what caused the issue with the above said car.

PLEASE do not put a 245 on a 10 or 10.5" rim. It can potentially be a serious problem. I cant believe someone would risk ripping the tire off the bead by Drifting with that setup.

Todd is absolutely right. The maximum allowable rim width for most 245 tires is 9.0"

If you're going to run an 18x10.5 on the rear, you are sort of "stuck in the middle" when trying to match the diameter of the OE 245/45-18 tire (26.68").
A 285/40-18 is 26.97" and a 295/35-18 is 26.13".

Anyway, good luck getting things squared away!

Are you sure its not 275-40-18?

No matter what you do, DO NOT put 245 on a 10.5" rims. It might cause some serious damage.
I have 295 on a 10.5" rims with offset 22. Here is how it looks.

Are you sure its not 275-40-18?

This is actually a perfect match for the OE 245/45-18, but I excluded it because a 275 on a 10.5" wheel looks terrible.

Frankly, a 275 starts to look a bit stretched on a 10" wide wheel...
Even a 285 is a bit narrow for a 10.5", it is reallybetter suited to a 10.0" wide wheel.

I would probably disagree, I have a 275 on my 10.5 rear wheels and it looks great to me.
