Default I could use some help

So the other day I went to get some new tires put on the Z. I went to the tire place and everything was fine, car drove like a chamo (as always). So I drop off the car and a few hours later I get a call says that my car was done. I go down to the shop and get my car, then as Im driving off I can feel the car swaying. I though at the time it was because I had lifted up the rear end some to turck the tires that I just had removed from the car. I get home and call the tire shop and tell them the stoey and they tell me that didnt touch anything other than the tires, okay I though to myself but this really sucks to drive.

So the next day I went down to the dealership to ask them to take a look at it (by the way my car is about a 1,000 miles out of warranty, go figure). A few hours later I get a call from them to come down and pick up my car. So as I get there the service manager tells me that I have a warped rotor and thats whats causing my tire move. Forgot to mention that when the rear end of the car was jacked up I could move the passenger tire about two inches just by pushing on it.

Since that day Ive had quite a few people look at it, and they all tell me a wheel hub and that my tire could possibly fall off.

So my question is, is it possible for the wheel to move with just a warped rotor or is Nissan just blowing smoke in my ****?

I appreciate any help I can get. Thanks in advance. Sorry for the long post.

p.s. I asked the service manage at Nissan if my car was safe to drive and if my tire would fall off, he told me was safe to drive and my tire wouldnt fall off.

I don't know if severely overtorquing the lug nuts could cause this, but it seems like it could. You might want to check the torque on the *other* wheels as well, just for reference.

And I wouldn't be driving the car anywhere.

The car doesnt move. As for the torque of the wheels, I believe I have them at 95ft lbs.

Warped rotors will only cause your steering wheel and or brake pedal to vibrate when braking. They will not make the car pull unless your hitting the brakes while you drive.

As far as the 2 inch movement of the tire, does it click back and forth up or down? i mean is the lugs tight? That right there will make your car sway if the wheel isn't on tight.

As for a wheel bearing or a hub, you would hear a woo woo woo woo kinda noise when driving, so you'd be able to tell if it's a hub bearing. And the Z's is not adjustable bearing so i doubt it's that.

Only other thing i can think of is that they must have not done or have done one shitty alignment. And or left an adjustment loose. Other then that i'd have to see what your experiencing.

Get them to rebalance the tires and check the wheel bearing.

Yeah, I hear that. The lugs have all been torqured.

Also I forgot to mention (yeah I forget alot lol) that Nissan told me the problem was caused when I changed my brake pads...

Tonight when I get out of work I will jack up the rear end and take a quick vid to show you whats going on.

Did that as well (at a different tire shop) everything was good, thats when I was made aware of the movement in the tire.

yeah take a good vid with you moving the tire back and forth....all you have to do is grab the tire from it's sides and just nudge it or shake it. you dont have to put a lot of force. then do the same thing up and down. If there's play up and down more then it'd a bad bearing. if the play is bad side to side somethings off.

All of it. The rotor is all messed up with gouges and what not all through it. It was nuts, the guy at Nissan said the cause of it was due to me not resurfacing my rotors when I installed the new brake pads... but its not like I machined three out of four rotos and just said "ahh F the last rotor it will be ok" I didnt machine any of them, and the other three are just fine.

Also when I move the wheel up and down, you can see the rotor moving with it.

hmm...that makes no sense...even if you didnt machine them none of them should have gouges UNLESS you were grinding the pads metal to metal!!!!

and wait, the whole spindle moves to? I think wher eu got your tires put on they must have deff hit something while road testing man.

Hmmm, Im going to call them , but that would be a pretty futile effort as they will just deny it (if anything happened there). I just made it to college, so when I get out of here Ill jack up the rear end a take a short video.

The wheel sits against the center part or "hat" of the rotor. The wheel does not contact the part that the brake pad contacts.

Yeah, that last one was to Davidv lol. I got a buddy of mine who works for a tire shop, hes going to get the hub, and Im going to put it in this weekend. Then Im going to go to Nissan dealership and show them that it was a hub not a rotor, then tell them to shove it and that I wont be purchasing anymore vehicles from them.

Agreed. Hubs don't go bad all that often. I doubt many Z owners have ever had to replace them...
