Default Falken Azenis RT-615, need some feedback.

So I am searching around for new tires (wheels too, downsizing to 18's all around on my Nismo) and have come down to some final choices. Now of course pricing is of a question too as you do get what you pay for. I have run numerous brands of tires on alot of my past cars and have alot of experiance and know some that I like.

Now I was browsing around and forgot about the new Azenis RT-615's. Evidentally they have had very good/positive reviews from numerous individuals on retailer websites, but I have searched and have found relatively lacking information on various forums.

For the price, the sizing and overall "performance" cannot be beat. They by far are the most aggressive looking tire on the market besides R-compound only.

Anyone have any personal experiance?

i have always liked the Azenis 615's....they have been out for a while, but they can hold their own. Very sticky street tire with stiff sidewalls.

Pretty sticky STREET tire, have to heat them up pretty good or you die, if they get too hot you die too. Yeah.... SO GOOD LUCK!

If you're looking for a sticky street tire you found it.

Warranty on the tire? None.

Mileage expectancy maybe 10K.

Track/Auto-X good but need to heat them up.

Used as Time Attack tire for SCCA. Drift tire as well, (Falken Team).

They do need heat and when they get over heated they are greasy and few backoff laps don't help them.

I've had two really good spins on these tires when they have gotten greasy the oh shi* factor on the track.

Falken's describes them as close to a R-Compound as you can get now.

quick review from me:

1) Awesome auto-x tire. Heats up really quick and gets good grip
2) Not so good track / road course tire. Heats up too quickly and gets too greasy after a few laps.

Well all this is good to my eyes so far. I am using them primarily for street (daily driving) and some spirted back roads fun. Nothing in excess of continued hard core usage here.

Keep the reviews coming.

I'm in agreement with just about everything posted so far. Great autox tires, pretty good on the track. The only caveat would be that once they get a little worn, the wet traction goes to crap.

I had 2 sets on My Miata. I drove the car as hard as possible on the street and autox (very few). and they lasted about 12-15k per set.

Awesome grip. short life. kinda go hand in hand though

Got stuck on the ice once....that wasn't fun. kinda stressfull.

Got caught in a mild storm and could definitely feel the car slipping.

how are they in the wet?
Not for performance driving, but can they be driven in the rain safely?

That's what I'm talking about - driving to/from events on the street in the rain can be scary. When it's raining, you shouldn't be doing "performance" driving anyway.

They can be driven in the rain, but like with any RWD car you have to drive carefully in the rain. Check out www.evolutionm.net there are alot of people who swear by these tires. I had them on my evo at one point and loved them.

Great tires, i drove on mine yesterday. Just like any street tire they get greasy when over driven, but still remain predictable when you overcook them. They also cool quickly, if you drive them to the 110% and greasy point , just back down to 90% for 2 corners and you set to drive 100% again.

This is what I used them for with a few auto-x outings. I find they wear pretty quickly. I'm known to be abusive to tires but I got only about 5000 miles out of them.

I would do them again in a heartbeat though if I were looking for an aggressive street tire!

Speaking of........I have heard noise that thei Z1 star spec may be the next Azenis (as far as popularity in autox goes.)

its one that I'd love to try.

I ran the azenis on my car for about 8k miles before going to 19's - no complaints. Nice riding (way better than the S03's they replaced), and I had zero issues in the wet. For auto-x I suspect they would be fine. Once they heat up (track) they are like driving on ice though but for the street they are good. Only real issue is the lack of sizing

i have been running these tires on my dedicated set of track wheels
i agree they perform fairly good in auto-x once they are heated up
but if it is cold outside they can act stubborn-may not heat up until the
end of the lap or if you are running laps back to back they act ok- i had
a nice spin then slide off course on a cold day earlier this year.

on the road course i like them for about 6-8 laps then they get greasy
but if you are running a clean line with smooth entries and exits there
is no problems- i got a little squirrelly once during turn in but it was easy
to control.

they work great for me on spirited back road driving, terrible and almost
scary in rain with standing water-hydroplaning happens often.

i bought these as a stepping stone tire, went from normal street tires
to these and once these wear out i am buying some Toyo r888's
