Ok so my left rear tire kept going low. So I went to discount tire to see about getting it fixed, cause I could see a couple nails in it. Well they took it off and the inside of the tire was all torn up. The guy said that was fairly normal on 350z with wide tires. I have 275/35/18s on it. I was wondering is anyone else having that happen?

 

Anything is possible. Long nails near the sidewalls could easily rub on the inner surface of the tire causing it to tear.

I had a blowout years ago when a screw went through the outer treadblock of a tire. It was in there for a while and the threads of the screw started cutting through the sidewall due to the flex as the wheel rolled. It cut a 1" slit that blew out.

I see what you're thinking, but if he is talking about the inner tread block being worn down, that's not the result of tire feathering. Feathering is an uneven wear. Worn inner tread block, especially on wide tires is usually caused by camber.

Maybe if OP posts back and clarifies "inside of the tire was all torn up", we can figure out which condition he's talking about.

 

True. He might be dumped and have massive negative camber as well.

 

Well the tread of the tire was fairly even, but where the tread and sidewall meet is where it was cut up, the belts were even showing.

so here is the right answer. that happens when you drive on flat tires or near flat. you have the weight of you car rolling on your sidewall of the tire causing it to flex (making it rub) and getting damaged and torn up. most shops call it run flat damage/ sidewall damage

 

Well that sucks cause it is costing me a good amount of money. Oh well I should have paid more attention to it, that and passing cars at 145mph on the way to work had to help tear it up.
