Default Need new tires for YESTERDAY, please help.

Hello guys,

I only noticed today that I am in immediate need of new tires (all 4) and I need your help to Get the best set for the buck:
Durability, reliability, and cheaper than OEM. Also, I don't care too much about it performance wise, as I drive the Z mostly to and from work.

My OEM tires went 16k in FL, with little abusive driving. (is it good? / about average?)

PS.: Please do not flame me about "searching". I did, but I am a n00b and I cant find a thread that will cover my doubts, so I count on you guys to help me out and point me in the right direction (thread) as I need to make a decision by tomorrow morning, again my tires are REALLY bad.

BTW I was quoted $1,000 for a set (all for) of OEM tires (just the tires).

However, I noticed that not a lot of people go for OEM...
So I will be waiting for some input if I could do better on price and durability with another brand.

Call your local tire shop about Falken FK452s. It's a summer rated tire with good wet traction. They should be *roughly 170ea retail.

Thank you!

I was just reading a thread that some people were recommending the Falken 452's. I will check pricing on them tomorrow. Do you think they would last longer then the Potenzas?

PS.: Do I have to worry about TPMS problems when changing tires (OEM Wheels)?

It's up to you weather you stay same as stock tires on your OEM wheels. I went with 245/40-18s on the front and they fit the stock 18x8 front wheels fine. I do not know if the recommended 275/40-18 for rear will fit on the stock 18x8.5 rears though. (03' Touring - not sure what your sizes are)
It's recommended thoroughly on the forum here that if you have TC/VDC to keep the 1" stagger difference front to rear to keep the TC/VDC happy.

I've had NO TPMS issue using the above tires with TPMS.

FWIW rated treadwear on my stock Potenza RE040 is 140. 300 for Falken FK452... of course, your driving style might produce differing results.

My choice was Toyo t 1Rs. I'm on my second set. I get about 25,000 perset.

Paid about $750 for OEM sizes delivered from Edge Racing. Add another $150 or so for mounting. I would also get an alignment.

No problem with TPS if you stick with stock sizes.

I got really interested on the TOYO's, but it will be above my budget installed / alligned.

For this time, I am set for the Falken 452's.

As for tire sizes, should I go with the stock size or try another setup on my OEM wheels?

This thread explains (sorta) the VDC issue. Keep the replacement tire sizes (diameter not width) within 3% of the original and you should have no problems.

I.E. 245/40-18 front 275/40-18 rear (as it says in the thread above)
But check Terrasmak's comments about running a 275 width tire on an 8.5 width wheel...

You tell me that you are looking for a long lasting tire, and pick one with a tread life that is worse than average. I don't get it.

Best bang for the buck would be Falken FK452 & Toyo T1R

yeah, falken 452 or 912's are decent cheaper tires. the 912's might be a little cheaper but you'll have to check if they have your size. general exclaims uhp i heard are also decent for the price.
