Default Good Recommendation for Tire Size?

Hey guys...

I added a bronze Nismo wheels to my Z a couple months back and the back stock tires just don't look right...bald anyways.

They recommended:
255-45-18

The back Nismo wheels are:
18-9.5 +30

The Fronts are:
18-8.5 +25

Anyone think there recommendation is good...I am just looking for something that will fit the wheel well, look good, and perform well on drive payment.

Thanks

My front wheels are 9.5" wide and I have 255 width so I think that is correct. You might want to look at maybe a 245 for the 8.5" fronts. The OEM 18" wheels (the ones that come standard on 06+ models) are 8.5" wide in the rear with 245/45/18 tires and I thought they looked and drove fine (except for the fact that the bridgestone RE040's sucked, but that's another topic altogether).

EDIT: The OEM tire width stagger front to back is a difference of 20mm (225 front, 245 rear) so maybe you want to run 245 fronts and 265 rears? I can't vouch for putting a 265 width tire on a 9.5" wide wheel, though. It might bulge out a bit.

265 will bulge out a bit on a 9.5" rim.

So you are thinking this would look best?

245-45-18 in the fronts
255-45-18 in the backs

Not sure why you consider stretched tires “look better” but go for it.

I didn't think the OEM setup looked too stretched, but I could be wrong. It's been a while since I looked at them.

Well right now with the new Nismo wheels and the stock back tires, the wheel comes out past the tire...so it looks terrible...I am looking for some advice on a tire that will fit the wheel and look better.

I think I understand. How about the recommended sizes:

Includes one Center Cap, one black Air Valve, five 17mm black Lug Nuts, Installation Instructions, Maintenance Instructions
Use only the recommended tire size, P245/40R18 (18 x 8.5 wheel) or P275/40R18 (18 x 9.5 wheel).

^^ Great advice… This tire/wheel setup is perfect. You don’t experience noticeable under-steer with this setup because 245’s on the front are wide enough to grip very well, provide great turn-in, and are not over-powered by the 275’s on the rear.

I would also like to comment on something else you wisely point out on this thread:

You didn’t say this directly, but I believe you might agree that stretched tires look OK (some members here really like this look), but a stretched tire setup invites wheel scrapes/rash. People going for this look think they will protect from this by careful parking, but a gf or wife can damage a stretched tire setup in one short trip to the store.

So 275-40-18 would work for the rear tires?

I see two things wrong her personally. One, the stretched tire is played out as a black rim with a polished lip. 2 things I never liked even when they were new and trendy Second, the gf or wife driving the Z? WHAT? My girlfriend wouldn't drive the Z if i payed her. She knows how much it means to me and wouldn't ever put that in her hands.

Go with the recomended sizes listed.

I have a set of those. Excellent all-around tire.

EDIT: Except winter. Be smart when the road surface is 40 degres or less.
