Maxima - I have T1Rs with around 2000 miles and 1 track day on them. They have deep treads, and are showing very little wear. They HOOK UP in the rain, which was the biggest surpise for me and one of the best parts of the T1R.
The reason I am posting is because on my T1R's, the traction sucked for quite a long time right when I got them. I had read that they have a long break in period, and it was hard for me to believe. I disliked them so much that was really considering buying different ones up until I had about 600 miles on them. They were nervous at moderate speed and slick at low speed. Now, however, I like them! They have improved greatly in grip and are not nervous at all anymore.
So my advice, take it easy on the car and drive it slower to learn when these tires will break loose on you. I think that it will be a lot sooner than your old tires, unless the old were really trashed. You should see a very clear change (improvement) in grip after you've broken them in fully.

You are right, I have heard that they have about 500 mile break in period. I have about 50 miles on them and already noticed a night and day difference in traction. On the worn out falkens, under WOT, at 3000 rpm when the SC kicked in, i would immediatly roast the tires and the rpm would literally jump to redline forcing me to drop it into second, absolutly ZERO traction was provided by the falkens. nothing but wheel hop/tire spin. However, the Toyos GRIPPPPPPPPPPP like crazy, i went WOT and for the first time in my life i was kicked into the seat in this car right when boost kicked in. Didn't even lose grip ONCE. mind you, this is in a FWD. cant wait till they are further broken in. money WELL SPENT !
