Default New Tires/Comfortable Ride

Here's my dillema. I live in NYC and for those that know, the roads here are trully terible. I have an 08 coupe with stock 18's, and thinking about putting some new tires on her this coming spring and wanted to hear some suggestions from the experts.
I want wider tires, but don't want to sacrafice ride comfort, meaning i would like to avoid creating an even rougher/harsher ride than I already get driving these streets, so skinny is out of the question (yes, I do not get crazy, but do let her loose when on the twisties in north jersey and upstate). I was thinking about going up to 245 front and 265 rear. With these widths, what are some good side wall sizes I can look at without sacraficing comfort? What do you guys think about putting 245/45 and 265/40, front and rear, respectively?

Suggestions are welcome.

Thanks a lot.

you would want 245/40 or 255/40 front and 275/40 rears with the proper wheel change to run those width tires.

Why do you want wider tires for you stock wheels??? Wider tires and larger profiles won't do jack, and it will look so retarded..

The stock tire width is adequate for the amount of power an 08 Z comes with. If you say you don't get traction, it's because you don't know how to effectively put that power to the ground. Basically you suck at driving..

^+1 lol that was a perfect explanation. You don't just stop on the gas pedal and turn, Of course you will loose traction but just start slow and gradually pick up speed.

I guarantee that if I started a similar thread, lets say titled: ""custom wheels, need tire size help" and siad that I bought a set of 18's, 8" wide up front and 8.5" in the rear and I'm thinking about putting on 235/45 tire on front and 265/35 in the rear", you, "buddy", would have been the first to chime in with a more productive answer.
So, hush.... puppy!!!!!

I would bet you would get the same advice. Technically if you really wanted you could get away with a 245/40 front and 265/40 rear, the prob is 265/40 is an odd size.

BTW we would probably flame you a bit if you bought aftermarket 8's and 8.5's for your car.

byl, try the Nitto INVO's. After switching from dunlop sportmaxx runflats and t1r's these babies are the comfiest ride i ever ran.

Keep the stock tyre width for the stock rims or you can go 10mm wider if u wish... no worries about grip coz the Invo's stick like glue... been also at the circuit track with these and they never let me down. cost effective as well.

good luck
