Nitrogen filled tires on 2008 models?

Remember: the correct spelling is $-t-e-a-l-e-r-$-h-i-p; anything that may imply some kinda profit will be attempted by the manufacturers/stealerships.

I agree… and you are wise.

My Jeep Commander’s TPMS is consistently reporting low pressure even though the tires are filled correctly. My Chrysler dearer recommends replacing the plain air in the tires with a nitrogen-fill (I wonder how they even do this, reliably) for an $80.00 charge. I should mention that this problem is happening during the summer months when there isn’t a big swing in temperature.

The dealership claims doing this (replacing plain air with nitrogen) will fix the problem.

I don’t think so.

Additional Information: I do fill my studless winter snow tires with nitrogen. I do this because I get more consistent psi during the winter months (temps swing here from above freezing to -25 F) with nitrogen, and nitrogen fills provide drier air inside my wheels.
