Default Enkie RPF-1 and Nitto Review

Just got my new wheels and tires from DTD. I went with the 17x9 +35 Enkie RPF-1 with the new (never heard of) Nitto 555IIR road race tire which only comes in 275/40/17 (on Nitto web). Turn in with the 275 is great. This is an upgrade from the ATS 17x8.5 with Yokahoma 032R 255.40 F and 275/40 R. The weight is down over 5lbs per wheel/tire and I can definitely feel the difference in acceleration. Handeling is great. These tires are quite and comfortable and more importantly - very sticky.

I will be on track this weekend and will see how they do against my freinds Porche Turbo with the GT2 engine and his Z06.

I take it there is no clearance Issue on the front with the wheel or tire? I ordered the 17X9 w/275/40/17 Kumho MX's for the front and the 17X9 1/2 for the rears since I already have some 285/40/17s on some other wheels for the rear.

The 17x9 fronts will NOT work on Track models.

I have the Enthusiast model. I was wondering about tire clearance (275/40/17) on the front since I have the RS*R springs and the front is .6"-.7" lower than stock.

I'm running RPO2J's in the front 17X9 35mm offset with Kumho Victoracers 275/40/17's with no problem at all. I'd say there is only 1/16 clearance with the suspension though. I've got my Z lowered about 1-1.25" or so.

I agree, there is a lot of room to the fender in the front with the 275/40s.

How are the RS*S springs?

I like the RS*R springs, rides a little better than stock.
Front drop of .7"gives you 1.1degrees of negative camber.
Rear drops .5"-.6" I set the camber at -1.5 degrees but could bring it down to even less than that with the stock adjusters.

My new front wheels are 35 offset, so everything looks like it will work .
Thanks for the replies.

I promised a review of the Nitto road race tires and here it is. They held very well in the corners and exiting the corners, but I had more push than I have had in the past. This even with the 275/40 rubber. My guess is that the almost 1/4" higher ride hieght due to the larger diameter tires and thus weight has been shifted to the front. The other possibility is that the tire sidewall is not as stiff and I loose camber. I had a great deal of wear after about 2 hours on track with the two front tires wearing 30 to 40%. All in all I would spend the dollars for Toyo's, but the Nitto's are a good deal for the price.

By the way, my bud in the Z06 on street tires could not catch me and he is a better driver than I am. On race rubber, he would smoke me. I need to solve the push and lower the car about .5" and I can give him a run on equal terms. I will put adjustable sways to ballance the car.
